Odds for 1975/76 season. 22:16 - May 9 with 2417 viewsSnipper

What odds were QPR in the betting for the start of the 1975/76 season?

Is there any way of getting a complete list of the odds?

I don't think there were betting odds on football back then. There was just the pools.

A mate of mine had a bet on us pre season @ 33-1 to win the league that season

Back then the Sunday People would publish their predicted league tables for each of the four divisions and Rangers were up there in that prediction.

The competition was so much more open back then with no total dominance. So after finishing 8th and 11th, odds of 33/1 seem about right. Although, you'd be expecting much higher odds for a team that had only spent a few seasons in the top flight. But definitely not the 5000/1 people got on Leicester 😁

From memory I had £5 at 40/1, a huge bet for then.

It may be that I'm guilty of having exagerated the odds over the years though! Perhaps the size of the bet as well!

Bookies calculate the odds on form and the season before was a drop in form … finished mid table with only one win from the last seven games. The pre-season friendlies were a better indicator. I wonder if anyone did an each-way bet. That would’ve paid out.

That period we were around 66/1.

Can still recall my dads laughter on hearing of my decision what I did with a pound

Dunno, but I was so confident we would do really, really well that for the first and only time I kept a scrapbook. Five of them in fact. Still got them somewhere.
