Said Les 10:23 - Feb 23 with 5594 viewsGaryBannister86

I know I'm old, and this is pointless, but 30 years on I still wince at "Sir Les". Can't help it.

It's not. It's Said Les. And if you know, you know.

And if you are Cinzano, you don't.

Even if it is your 50TH YEAR OF SUPPORTING QUEENS PARK RANGERS.

etc.

Who cares, he deserves a QPR knighthood for services to the club!!

Say Les, Sir Les...

Well like many others, I sang "say les - lie fer- di - nand !!!

But was happy to knight the man myself !!

Best header of the ball ever seen here and the most powerful shot too and like a gazelle in full flight when effortlessly gliding up pitch !!!

For those that too young to know the man as a player, can understand why the D o
F role has tainted his legacy a little but as a player, one of our greatest for me.

I'm a bit too young but I strongly remember the chant and never put that and the Sir Les references together, I just wrongly thought they were separate things.

On Incenzo's comms, I have heard him on some old clips and it properly makes you appreciate how good Nick London is.

Poll: Moses Odubajo - Stick or Twist?

Thank you. It was always “Said Lesley. Ferdinand, said Lesley Ferdinand” when he scored. Note full stop in first part. And it was always Super Rangers too for what its worth. No idea where the “Sir Les” nonsense came from. And, bluntly, if we did give him a knighthood maybe its time to take it away!

I notice this was referred to in the Robson Green TV programme that goes round the NE of England. There was an episode with Les in it where he recounts that they revered him so much up there they named him Sir Les !

Wasn't it simply that we sang 'Said Lesley Ferdinand, said Lesley Ferdinand'

Always this on repeat.

Say Leslie Ferdinand, said Leslie Ferdinand

Only to be used for last line before a quick break normally into you are my rangers, my only rangers….

That’s how I remember it.
