Chris Willock - what is going on with him? 17:35 - Dec 30 with 4248 views | HammersmithR | Before his injury he was unplayable and one of the best attacking players in the league. He’s now back from injury and looks like he can’t be bothered. Is it just my perception? He’s not scoring or creating. His body language doesn’t look good either to be honest. Is he carrying an injury still? Has he been tapped up by another club? His form is a massive reason why we’re not creating or scoring goals.
Chris Willock - what is going on with him? on 17:49 - Dec 30 with 4187 views | sdm1508 | I reckon not fit and no confidence in his hamstring so that leads to playing well within himself. I think Taylor Richards needs games now and Wilock gets on from the subs bench to build his confidence and fitness up again

I agree. I think Chair, Richards and Willock would be a handful but we might need to wait until we can get all 3 on the pitch at the same time. Your approach could work.

Chris Willock - what is going on with him? on 17:59 - Dec 30 with 4120 views | quickpassrotter | Clearly something not right there. Is he still struggling with the injury ? Has his head been turned ? He seems low on energy and lacking confidence. Obviously we simply don't know - but if we are to change our results (and soon) then we need him to fire. Interesting to see if he starts against SheffUtd. I wonder if there is any more illness in the camp.

Doubt very much any offer would trouble double figures given his refusal to sign a contract and his poor fitness and form of late. £6m?

it must be great following QPR that way - accepting Willock not putting it in while we pay to watch him, then rubbing hands in anticipation of him already being off for some kind of fee we probably won't reinvest next month. What footballers and football clubs get away with is really something!

I don’t know how these things work. If Clive isn’t being Chicken Little about the financial situation and £6m keeps the lights on for a few seasons then we’ll have to go for it. If this dreamt up transfer happens then that’s 7x his purchase price by the way. Not to be sniffed at but I’m sure will be used to wallop Ferdinand.

Shame he hasn’t *yet* taken a leaf out of Eze’s book and played with a straight bat when it comes to a new contract. As I recall, Eze signed a new four year contract when his stock was rising which upped his sale value and ended up getting a great move while QPR benefitted… a class act, unlike some. …no doubt his agent is holding out for a massive fee when he inevitably goes for peanuts. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

What's the alternative but to look at selling him if someone's interested? Especially now the idea of him firing us to the Premier League looks like a pipe dream. The Eze money was reinvested into: Dykes £2m (Contract expiry 2024) Dickie £2m (2024) Willock £750k (2024) Bonne up to £2m (Summer) Amos £500k? (Summer) As it stands no contracts extended, no money recouped, we can't just piss £8m up the wall for no return. That's not even mentioning Austin/Johansen signings which we knew had no resale value. EDIT - not having a go at you Hastings! [Post edited 30 Dec 2022 20:19]

That’s kind of my point… if he signs a new contract, we still sell him but for his true value. If he doesn’t we need to sell him but for a fraction of his worth. What Eze did was very decent and it paid off for both QPR and Eze… I do hope Willock does the same, but fear he (or his agent) won’t.

I can see him playing the rest of the season and then being sold with the year on his contract, unless we can convince him to stay on a new contract or at least sign one to maintain his value in the summer. He'll be 25 next year and would have been here 3 seasons. I suspect as it looks like we may hover lower in the table that he may want a shot at higher things. I wouldn't blame him. Fit he is a stand out brilliant player. Although I suspect like Michael Owen that his hamstrings are consistently going to be something that perhaps keep him from reaching his 'full' potential.

Up to 2 mill for Bonne. I might dig the boots out. Charlton must have thought it was a belated April fools joke when they picked the phone up.
Chris Willock - what is going on with him? on 21:24 - Dec 30 with 3527 views | ParkRoyalR | Came on at 0-2 against a 9 man defence, think we are being very unrealistic, Willock was our attack before his injury and we are so reliant on his end product which the others just don't have, Hopefully starts against Sheff Utd, we get an early goal and the game opens up so we can see him back at his best.

Great, I'll leave you to your realism/modernity, or whatever else you want to call it, while I worry about how we're going to build a team at QPR, attract young fans to the club by providing them with players they can admire, and hold out for a bit of truth and honesty from my club. In the meantime, there's more poison in your own cynicism than in any of mine, but of course you're too complacent and judgemental to see it.

Chris Willock - what is going on with him? on 07:46 - Dec 31 with 3069 views | NorthantsHoop | It has been said many times, QPR's ability to mantain and possibly challenge in this division relies upon current players like Chair, Willock, Dieng, Dickie and Dykes being moved on for fees greater than was paid for them and for this alongside trying to develop our own youngsters and discerning purchases from abroad and in the lower leagues. To be honest we are kidding ourselves of trying to keep players like Willock if money can be made on them and we are not in the Premier league. Maybe the issue with Willock was that Warburton brought him to the club and when he left, maybe some of Willock's motivation obviously not discounting the injury left a bit as well. I was always a fan of Warburton's think he got us more competitive again and should have been given another season, rather than the sxxt show we are seeing unfold on the pitch at the moment accelerated by Beale who has dropped a bomb in that dressing room with his self promoting antics.

Players' values are higher when they're performing well and contributing to a successful team. Of course there are exceptions (e.g. Bowen in that awful Hull side) but generally more clubs are going to be interested in signing your players if you're playing well every week and showing why you're too good for your current level. Brentford did that consistently, even selling players well over their value because their team was more than the sum of its parts. I think Chrissy is more than capable of playing in the Premier League but he's been poor for a while now. It may be connected with his injury, he may want away - but the worrying thing is the new manager clearly doesn't fancy playing him and Chair together. We can argue about why that was the other night but it's not a good look to leave your best player on the bench (even when he's out of form) when you're capitulating at home to Luton.
Chris Willock - what is going on with him? on 11:25 - Dec 31 with 2819 views | Andybrat | I think we all agree he doesn’t look right, I think a combination of things are contributing. Obvious one being the injury, no stability of leadership ( agree with Clive re Warburton) and the brother doing so well at Newcastle must have an effect. You would think it would make him more determined, can’t read his mind but we are all influenced by family. Need Illy and Willy back on the pitch together ( on the same side of the pitch) as I reckon that will help both also. He won’t do it but 5 at the back helped also, we have 2 great wing backs ( better than last year) and good enough centre halves when all fit. Final point on CW, that goal against Boro was a dream, goal of the season less than 10 mins into the 1st game, makes it even more frustrating….. Andy

Come on, you know that we are going to need to sell one of our prize assets, so, Dieng, Chair, or Willock very soon, just to avoid FFP issues. If there is interest in Willock at this time, the last thing we want is him going into some crunching, death or glory tackle and seriously crocking himself. If that happened, you would be one of the first to savage the club for negligently and incompetently squandering our chance to make some serious money out of him.

Chris Willock - what is going on with him? on 10:40 - Dec 2 with 1617 views | enfieldargh | Seems Marti has been up into the QPR Attic(Loft) and dusted off a few forgotten gems. CW looking almost back to his imperious best and before some cynics say well of course his contract is up and he's looking to further his career with a lucrative move hence the upturn in his form. A CW firing on all cylindars is a beautiful sight to see, last night despite crap conditions he was gliding past players. At some points in the 2nd half we had Chair, Willock & Paal forming positional triangles, making passing options creating panic with the knob enders with quick fire passing and skill. More of this please. You never know he may even sign a new contract

For all the criticism and snide comments about Willock’s dad, if i was in his dad’s shoes at any point in the last year there is no chance i’d be advising him to sign a new deal. Why would you? Club in turmoil, then a manager who wants to play hoofball, a team likely to be relegated. Doesn’t excuse some of Willock’s performances, and we don’t know how much his injuries have affected him, but let’s hope he continues this trajectory and gets somewhere near his best again.
