Eze..is he actually any good? 09:16 - Feb 20 with 12683 views | RblockPrior | I was so frustrated with him last night just jogging around the pitch never getting into a sprint, playing the easy pass while always looking for the foul. Worse for me was the fact he didnt go up for 1 header, I honestly could not believe it. Against Millwall he was brilliant but he has been a passenger for far to many game this season and I for one would take any reasonable offer for him in the summer

Eze..is he actually any good? on 09:19 - Feb 20 with 7754 views | traininvain | If you're expecting Eze to win headers then I fear you will continue to be disappointed. In answer to your question, Eze's shown glimpses of real quality. But he's inconsistent as youngsters often are and over hyped which hasn't helped expectations. We'll know more in a year or two.
Eze..is he actually any good? on 09:21 - Feb 20 with 7744 views | 1MoreBrightonR | thought he was ok last night. nothing spectacular but if you want a player who's going to play with loads of urgency and chase everything down, he just isnt your man. Nice build up play for the Samuels move from him...if Samuels had finished it as he should have done, we would be saying what a great sub Eze was.
Eze..is he actually any good? on 09:28 - Feb 20 with 7695 views | TheChef | Thought he did well last night and arguably did a better job of holding the ball up and using it than Smith did (of course if you don't fire the ball at his head - play to his strengths). I would start him at Boro on Saturday.

Eze..is he actually any good? on 09:44 - Feb 20 with 7630 views | Northernr | I thought he played well last night and we were much better once he'd come on. Nearly scored that one at the near post. Made things happen. Posed a threat. Much better in that shape. He's not going to win you a lot of headers, but then when did Freeman ever beat anybody in the air? He scored that free header against Sheff Wed and everybody was pissing themselves. I also don't see this "jogging around" thing, he doesn't look like he's running any less than anybody else to me. Do you really want your number ten sprinting back into his own half to make tackles? He's not Jamie Mackie but there's narrative building around him being lazy that just isn't true. Hemed has done fck all for months, barely moves about, doesn't put himself about, can't be arsd really, and nobody says a thing about it. But Eze is lazy. Doesn't sit comfortably with me at all.

Eze..is he actually any good? on 09:45 - Feb 20 with 7618 views | WestbourneR | In answer to your question - yes. I assume you didn't notice that he put people through behind their defence several times last night to make our best goal scoring chances? BOS chance being the most obvious - but a couple of times down the edge of the box too - exquisitely timed reverse passes to runners. I really have no idea what game people are watching sometimes. Shame you can see it but you sound like someone who just likes limited players who run around a lot. Plenty of those in our team, so that should satisfy. What Eze does, which is very very hard and critical to how we (can) play but doesn't look amazing for people who want see players sprinting around winning headers like the OP - is he can receive and keep possession in very tight area under immense pressure and then release ball at the right time, when then team has moved up the pitch into dangerous areas. If we want to play well, like we did 2nd half, then Eze needs to play. It's no coincidence that our losing streak has come hand in hand with him being dropped for Smith. It's no fault of Smith but we just can't help but lump it to him when he's on. Eze gets it down and makes us play. Class player.

Eze..is he actually any good? on 09:52 - Feb 20 with 7576 views | simmo | "Do you really want your number ten sprinting back into his own half to make tackles?" Apart from the points made above, I literally saw him do this last night. In fact I think the constantly trying to make him more of a worker negates some of what he's good at, so he doesn't take people on or have enough pops at goal as he's trying to be more of a team player. I said when Eze started playing regularly that due to his 'languid' style it's only a matter of time before people started having a go at him. He's a young kid in a struggling team that's never even played a full season before, give him a break FFS.

Eze..is he actually any good? on 09:59 - Feb 20 with 7541 views | Rog | Eze played well last night and was the right change as Smith wasn't at the races. I also thought Hemed did well too.
Eze..is he actually any good? on 10:04 - Feb 20 with 7512 views | HamptonR | He is a very good player and should have a very bright future. His ability is obvious to see, passing is quality and he can ghost past players with ease. Every pass doesn't come off and he doesn't beat his man every time, same as every other player on the planet. Being criticised for playing "The easy pass" is ridiculous.
Eze..is he actually any good? on 10:06 - Feb 20 with 7504 views | RblockPrior | Clearly on my own on this one then. Happy to take your views on though as I know football is a game of opinions. Yes he can be silky on the ball and played a couple of nice passes but for me he slows the game down. There is no way that the introduction of Smith over Eze has caused us to lose more games, if anything it would be losing Cameron in midfield. As for sprinting back yes I do expect him to get back as quickly as possible to get behind the ball and defend when his team needs him, as for the Freeman point, he goes up for a lot of headers he may not win many but by going up for them it makes it less easy for the opponent. Time to agree to disagree on this one

Eze..is he actually any good? on 10:08 - Feb 20 with 7491 views | daveB | I thought he did well when he came on, one lovely pass to set up Bright and created a few chances. If you are looking for him to sprint all over the pitch and win headers you'll be disappointed, like wanting Matt Smith to spray 50 yard passes around midfield

Right he slows the game down and puts people clean through on goal and this is a problem for you? That makes sense. Assists are only assists. We need headers, mainly headers. This is up there with people who posted a few weeks ago that they'd rather have Wells that Austin because Wells is better (laugh) and all Austin does is score goals. Yes there are opinions. Some of them - wrong.

I also feel the crowd need to get off his back. Honestly, some of the sh!t I've seen on social media since the game last night is embarrassing. Unfortunately (and rather bizarrely!), he's pretty much the number 1 scapegoat at the mo amongst a very large section of our fanbase, who have basically already made there mind up that he's lazy and sh!t! He could play like Maradona for the next few games and our so called "fans" will still find fault. Fcking embarrassing and shameful to be honest. Which players in the right might mind will want to continue to play for us??? Depressing.
Eze..is he actually any good? on 10:28 - Feb 20 with 7379 views | RblockPrior | Maybe I have been a bit harsh, but it could well be because he has shown glimpses of what he can do in several games and I expect that in each game, that isn't fair when taking his age into consideration. I do think he can fight for the ball a lot more but obviously some think its ok for him to just not compete for the ball in the air and to not go in for the 50/50s as 'that is not what he is there to do' I agree there is alot of pressure on him and that sometimes isn't warranted however I don't think anyone is solely putting this run down to him

Eze..is he actually any good? on 10:30 - Feb 20 with 7369 views | terryb | We improved greatly with the introduction of Eze last night. Until Lynch decided to half head a ball that was going through to Lumley or for a goal kick, we were the only team threatening in the second half. Look at how Pav & Wells played a lot better when Eze was on the pitch. As a team we are better playing 4-2-3-1 (IMO) & the middle of the three is the place for Eze. He performed more creative passes last night than any other of our players. If your referring to the "header" when sections of the crowd moaned, his chances of winning it were zero.
Eze..is he actually any good? on 10:43 - Feb 20 with 7300 views | enfieldargh | His cause is not helped by always being announced as QPR's number 10!!!! Thats like putting a concrete collar on the lads shoulders. He'll come good in time sadly too many fans expect instant results He could be a bit braver when running at players as he can go past them but he did try that earlier in the season and got snuffed out so he's playing the cautious game which in a way is not such a bad thing. I feel sure he knows how good he can be, patience is the watch word this season

Eze..is he actually any good? on 10:56 - Feb 20 with 7242 views | robith | Eze's touch and control allow us to play much further up the field. We were much more cogent in attack when he came on. Confused by the jogging around thing. One thing, he was tearing around pressing them in their last quarter. Two, he has good positional intelligence so he doesn't need to hare around the pitch but rather find pockets of space. Three, he's the attacking outlet, he should be higher up the pitch. It's great that Wells comes back and wins ball often but it also stymies the attack because there's no one forward to work towards. After how the team performed last night I find it weird to find a thread calling out individual players tbh EDIT: Apart from Lynch [Post edited 20 Feb 2019 11:05]

Eze..is he actually any good? on 10:57 - Feb 20 with 7237 views | WadR | Agree with Clive and Westbourne's posts but also would add that slowing the game down is no bad thing imo. Maybe if Hemed slows the game down in injury time when the ball falls to him at the edge of our box and passes to Bright rather than aimlessly booting it back to WBA, we get up the pitch and kill the game rather than conceding. I know he was on the pitch but against Bristol City, maybe we could've closed the game out if we had shown any semblance of composure on the ball and not lost possession umpteen times in the last 10 mins from rushing things. There's a frantic-ness to a lot of our play and Eze's one of only a couple of players who is genuinely composed and considered on the ball. Yes, this sometimes manifests itself as him being a tad slow to see a pass or he'll cut back when he could take someone on - but as pointed out, he still managed to create 2/3 good chances last night. He's not playing as well as he did August - November but we are a better team when he starts, even off form. Just looked it up on WhoScored and of regular starters Eze has 81% pass completion - 5% more than the nearest regular Freeman. https://www.whoscored.com/Teams/171/Show/England-Queens-Park-Rangers

Excellent post. Agree on your point about frantic-ness, maybe if Wells does less defensive running he has more energy and composure when those chances do come late on as with last night and v Birmingham.
