What I mean is, the way they both go on from the sideline , running up and down and cheering like they have one the World Cup every time they win a throw in is very similar and thus makes them look like an unlikable prck.

I always wanted hoddle to manage us wont happen but would love to have seen how it turned out
clement wont come here assistant manager at Bayern Munich would be crazy to risk us unless maybe tony gives him a real deal say a 4 year unsackable deal where hhe can really build a team

Maybe jfh was unlucky, coming in when he did but he simply had to give us more than he did. Came in, said high-tempo, pressing play but, apart from one or two performances, we saw nothing of that. So, no style of play that was his then. Formation? I have no clue what he preferred and none worked. Above all, almost every game he ever managed produced zero entertainment in an entertainment business. On the back of what we'd suffered before him, it's all been too much to take. I meet so many committed supporters (includin AA inherently positive onesy) who simply couldn't give a shit any more. Who, like me, shrug shoulders when we let in a goal or lose, instead of getting angry and/or upset. And surely that says it all: his tenure has finally sucked the lifeblood from too many.
And frankly I can't forgive him for getting rid of the biggest legend we've had in 40 years and a lad who gave everything he had for us. And, instead of Hill and Faurlin, we get Henry and Caulker.
We need someone who can galvanise whatever soul we have left in the club. A tall order, that's for sure |
This merry-go-round of managers is crap. Cleared the books of all but Caulker and the bad kneed Brazilian and TF sacks JFH. Yes, the football is poor. I attended the 06 drubbing by the barcodes - welcome back to LR after 20yrs overseas. No, the football is not entertaining. However, I think the majority of supporters said in preseason that they would be happy finishing mid-table with more youth and stability at the club. Sod that consolidation talk, promotion or 2 managers a season until TF gets bored with us.

I wanted Paul Clement after Harry and I'd still want him. Proven coach did fairly well at Derby harshly sacked. One of our own and in the ethos of where the club is trying to move too. He'd get a good grace period too.
However I think it will be Sherwood 4-4-2 and an all in hand from Les knowing that good will will be very short in supply |
As I mentioned earlier in this thread I agree with a Clement appointment for the reasons Baz has mentioned. I don't know if the people making the decisions actually care what we think but the "grace period" quote is a good and relevant one.

I am genuinely surprised that Clememt hasn't been suggested more. Yes a novice but was doing well with Derby in the top 6 whilst playing entertaining football. Plus he comes with the opposite of baggage. I yhink most fans would be patient with him which is a big point to take into accoint these days.
So I'd go for Clement with Karl as his number 2 ready to he's ready to step up to the managers job when we sack Clement, presumably next year on November 6. |

Be careful what you wish for time. (And I say that as someone who wanted Hasselbaink gone).
There's a decent Championship team in there somewhere, most of us can see that, but realistically he wasn't ever going to put the pieces together.
Michael O'Neill would be my choice.
I don't know why Hodgson would be such a bad idea. I'm no fan of the man, but he ballsed the England job up much less dramatically than MacLaren, who now appears to have a job for life managing play-off hopefuls in the Championship.
I'll be staggered if it's not Sherwood now though, which is a shame because if/when he goes down, he'll probably take Les with him. And the direction the club have been going in off the pitch has been the one genuinely cheering thing about us in a long, long time.

Agree with the sentiment but I have a strange feeling Cpt Bellend will be successful. Has a similar feel to Warnock and Ollie's appointment. Neither were popular with the fanbase at the time, but both went brilliantly. Saying all this, I really do think Pearson is objectively the best call. |  | | |

Ah, I'm very disappointed, but not very surprised.
The undisputed consensus is that the football is poor, and, while not relegation zone yet, we are slipping down the table.
But I would have still given him more time: the rest of the season, or at least until relegation was a likely prospect. I do not think we have reached that point yet, though some of the more excitable and/or partisan on this forum have been claiming it for weeks. A moot point, now consigned to the bin of conjecture.
I do think it is sad that a not-obviously incompetent manager still can't expect a full season to establish his team, but that's just the way it is. [Post edited 6 Nov 2016 7:30]

If it is Sherwood then so be it, rather have someone on the touchline who shows passion than one who doesn't, rather have someone who will take the emerging players more seriously like Shodipo and Kakay and realise that age isn't a barrier if the talent is there. He did that at Spurs with Kane and Mason. We do have a decent squad of players, that is a fact but the biggest let down is the midfield, they just do not score enough goals and for me having someone like Gyidolin, who by the looks of his time at Swansea would be more in the Di Canio mould, when the midfield scored goals for fun, as did Dave. | |

Lets try and take some positives from the possible Tim Sherwood appointment......
Tim will know that IF he gets appointed that he will have to do a good job in order for his reputation (of what he has of it) to stand in good stead. If he does rubbish with us that will most likely be his last managerial position.
When he was at Tottenham he was very highly respected with his work behind the scenes.
I didn't think he did too bad when he was temp manager of Spurs and actually got an overpaid paid player who couldn't get in the team in Adebayor, scoring again.
At Villa he did alright for the initial period and then had a bad start in his full season with them, but I think he would have done a lot better than what Remi Garde did (not saying he would have kept them up, but they were dross under Garde).
Yes he salutes his players when they score, yes he wears a gullet.......
But he is a motivator, he takes every loss personally and doesn't stand for shite excuses.
If your looking for passion back into the team, he will bring that. He will be honest during interviews and will kick every ball on the touchline with the players.
What you would be hoping is that they can bring in an experienced #2 in with him rather than promoting Ramsey again. |
Great post Dougal. I think it's wrong to badmouth a potential manager before he's even started. Most of us would agree that during the last "window" the club brought in some potentially half decent players but they haven't been coached as a team or have been played out of position or in the wrong system. A new manager could sort this out. I also like Tim's passion for the game which is why I was also an Ollie fan. He'll get my support if appointed.
