Indeed, take Suarez, Sturridge and Sterling out of any team it's going to have an impact, plus Gerrard declining. Hardly a farce. |
He stuck with Gerrard though, even when it was obvious he was doing more harm than good. He also sold Carroll at a massive loss to change the playing style to what he wanted, only to revert to that with Benteke years later. Even after countless purchases and players he still didn't know his best system. Strikes me as too extreme an example of a modern manager - hence overrated. |  |

As you said previously, losing Suarez permanently and Sturridge for most of last season had a massive impact on how they played and their results. S&S scored over 50 goals between them and Liverpool finished 2nd. Not too shabby really. |  | | |

Maybe farce is the wrong word but the speed with which it all unravelled has to be the manager losing control. Losing Suarez was obviously a body blow but that still doesn't account for how quickly a squad who were a slip away from winning the title became so ordinary so quickly.

Strangely enough around the same amount of goals Suarez and Sturridge scored between them the previous season.
