Saints have announced that three of their players will be released following the end of their contracts in the summer.
There is no surprise on the first two on Saints list of departures, Gaston Ramirez is about to see out a contract that over the four years has probably cost around £30 million pounds in terms of transfer fee, wages, bonus's and incidentals like National Insurance payments and pension contributions.
For that Saints got a little over 50 Premier League appearances and 6 goals, although some of that outlay may have been recouped from Hull & Middlesbrough who would have contributed something to his salary.
The second man departing is Kelvin Davis, this again is no surprise and the keeper had already announced that he had played his last game for the club, Kelvin has been a great servant but at 40 age has caught up with him and he is no longer the standard required even as an understudy.
Whether Kelvin remains at the club in some capacity or decides to play at a lower level is yet to be announced, although Les Reed has said that talks are ongoing.
The third departure is young goalkeeper Will Britt, with the club likely to be top heavy with keepers next season if Maarten Stekelenburg or another keeper are signed as back up to Fraser Forster there is little opportunity for Britt who at 21 needs to be playing in someones first team for experience and it is likely that he will look for another club lower down the football pyramid, however his cause will not be helped by the fact that he missed a big chunk of 2015/16 through injury and only played 6 games for the U21 squad as well as a laon spell at Maidenhead United.
There will hopefully not be too many more outgoings and now we want to hear about incoming !
