Norwich City v Derby County EFL Championship Saturday, 8th February 2025 Kick-off 15:00 | ![]() |
Swansea City : Luke Williams will stay at Swansea City, no plans to sack him Thursday, 6th Feb 2025 08:00 by Liam Walters Luke Williams will be the head coach at Swansea City for another game despite his side not winning a fixture this year and conceding goals. Swans Chairman, Andrew Coleman is under no pressure to relieve him of his role and is more than happy with him at this time. That may well be as a result of the costs to get rid of Williams and certain members of his coaching staff as much as the fact Coleman is reluctant to admit he made a mistake a year or so ago when appointing him. We also hear that the new investors and new board member, the influential Tyler Morse are also calm for now regards on the pitch issues that are clearly concerning many Swans fans. Being comfortable is one thing, but that’s not the position the Swans find themselves in for the forthcoming Championship fixture at Ashton Gate on Sunday. (12 KO) The game is on Sky Sports main event this weekend. Swansea City will have new signing Lewis O’Brien available now his clearances are complete. He will be a welcome addition to a dysfunctional midfield that was in no man’s land for the defeat to Coventry City last weekend. We can expect him to be thrust into that midfield for sure. Harry Darling will serve the final game of his three match suspension after his sending off against Sheffield United, so he isn’t available. He is into his final months at Swansea. That is of course if the Swans cannot convince him to sign a new and improved contract which we understand will be offered again this month. That needs to be well timed with a fans forum on the evening of Tuesday February 18th. As it stands the majority of Swansea fans are baying for blood. We have a,ways acknowledged that Andrew Coleman has worked tirelessly to make the window acceptable, but Jacob Wright really did pull his pants down. Something was never right about that deal. As we said it would be on and off until the window nearly ended, and that turned out to be accurate. Having been given so much hope towards the end of December with only what can be described as amateurish positivity, or just absolute nonsense there will be many questions to be answered. Especially when after getting Manchester City midfielder, nineteen year old Jacob Wright to Swansea at the third attempt and he still refused to sign. And a refusal it was, nothing more and nothing less. Allegedly this young man just had the look of a player who just didn’t want to be at Swansea from the moment he arrived. Being seen constantly on his mobile phone and looking disinterested with his agent/represnetative doing the very same it looked off from the start. We have been told, “This kid hardly got his coat off, he seemed far more interested in talking on his phone than completing the formalities of joining our club” (sic) Within an hour of arriving at Fairwood he was looking cagey and standing by the door ready to go. Three hours later he had signed on loan for Norwich City. The late false flag of Bobby Clark being available from RB Salzburg was never going to happen with the German club completely closed down when the rumours started he could join Swansea. At no point did Swansea City get anywhere near to signing the player. Like Karlan Grant a few years ago it was a completely hashed up load of speculative rubbish. A desperate attempt, as all the loans and attempted purchases this window have been to mislead and give false hope. This game on Sunday comes with the Swans having a torrid time since the turn of the year. Barring the FA Cup game at Southampton, which was also a loss the table since the turn of 2025 doesn’t make good reading. ![]() Even the current table which shows the Swans some seven points away from safety is alarming. ![]() Stoke City and Cardiff City meet in the FA Cup this weekend which also involves Preston. Fortunately there is no chance of the Swans moving down a place which makes this Sunday game more significant than ever. Oxford and Preston are three points ahead of the Swans. That’s a gap. They play on Tuesday and Wednesday. The Swans are at home to Sheffield Wednesday on … Wednesday. After that fixture if the results show no improvement then maybe Luke will be in an untenable position ? How many times has that been said this year ? It is outrageous to what seems to be a majority of Swansea followers that he still remains in employment. Giving him more times isn’t based on results alone, otherwise he would have been long gone by now. He needs the support of Andrew Coleman, despite his West Bromwich Albion issues, a moment in time that we very much know didn’t sit well with the Chairman. He has his support for now and the new investors, despite being unhappy they are behind the Chairman, at the moment that is. Once again Swansea City will take a large support to Bristol City and we will be covering the game and all the build up here on the Indy. ![]() Photographs : Manning registered Reuters : Williams Swansea City FC Please report offensive, libellous or inappropriate posts by using the links provided.
