"Swansea made no attempt to keep the player" Friday, 1st Feb 2019 10:23 by Planet Swans (follow us on Twitter @swansnews) The agent of Dan James has hit out the day after the transfer window closed by stating that the Swans were ready to sell his player at the first sign of any money. That, of course, should be of no surprise to Swans fans given that most of the people were happy to sell the club at the first sign of money so we do have history on this front. But for the words to be so clearly uttered should set more alarm bells ringing in that everybody at Swansea City is available for sale and that we should prepare ourselves for more departures in the summer. The full extent of the damage inflicted on this football club by those who sanctioned moves for the likes of both Ayews, Clucas, Mesa, Sanches and Bony is becoming more clear by the day and a desire to get one of our youngsters off the books is a bigger concern given the play we have stated all season that the youth are our future. We can but be thankful that Dan is here for the rest of the season but it seems certain that Leeds will be back in for him in the summer and the chances of us securing a new deal with him are pretty much nil following the farce that has been this week James’ agent, David Manasseh, told Telegraph Sport: “Swansea made no attempt to keep the player and at the first sign of money they couldn’t show him the door quickly enough. It is very disappointing but the player is philosophical about it.” James featured in the Swans 3-3 draw against Birmingham on Tuesday night but was allowed to travel to Leeds on Wednesday ahead of the proposed move yesterday. That move was pulled at the last minute with reports about the fee structure surfacing effectively killing the deal. James had already done his publicity shots in a Leeds shirt and everything was thought to be good but the key words from his agent sum up our ambition as a football club and they are "Swansea made no attempt to keep the player" and that tells you that every single player is effectively up for sale and pretty much for any price we can get.
