Late Deal For Striker On Saints Radar Monday, 6th Aug 2018 20:53 According to the media Saints might be about to do some late business in the transfer window and bring in a striker. The Mirror is reporting that Saints might swoop to bring in Paco Alcacer to St Mary'sfrom Barcelona, although it could be a loan deal rather than a permanent move. Alcacer has been linked with Saints earlier in the summer, but the trail went cold but with the transfer deadline looming it is being suggested that Barcelona are ready to do business but Saints could face competition from West Ham & Leicester. The Mirror say Barca are ready to do business with any club prepared to meet Alcacer's £3million loan fee and his wages, which are said to be around £80,000-a-week, for his part Mark Hughes has refused to rule out the possibility of some late business at St Mary’s before Thursday’s 5pm deadline and being an ex Barcelona player might hope to pull some strings. Although Saints fans would prefer a permanent deal, a loan deal might suit Saints, £3 million might seem a big fee for a season long loan, but in reality it is only the same pro rata as buying a player for £12 million for a player on a four year contract, but without the risk of seeing a flop stuck on a long term deal. We will see in the next day or two whether this deal has any real substance. Photo: Action Images Please report offensive, libellous or inappropriate posts by using the links provided.
