Osvaldo Set To Return To St Mary's
Thursday, 8th Jan 2015 10:45

Dani Osvaldo looks set to be returned to Saints by Inter Milan after hs latest bust up with a team mate.

Dani Osvaldo is set to be dumped by Inter Milan after his latest indiscretion when he tried to attack team mate Mauro Icardi for not passing to him in the final minutes of Inter's draw with Juventus earlier this week.

According to Italian paper Gazzetta Dello Sport, Osvaldo has been fined and banned for a match by the club, but the matter will not end there and Inter will try to end the loan period early.

Failing being able to send him back early Inter will attempt to try and sell on his loan agreement to another club with Boca Juniors in Osvaldo's home country of Argentina being mentioned as a possible candidate.

It is likely that Saints will resist all efforts to send him back being content to see at least part of osvaldo's over inflated wages being covered for this season, however it is not known whether inter were astute enough to have a return clause inserted in the loan agreement should Osvaldo be involved in any offensive behaviour.

Football Italia reports that AC Milan, Fiorentina and Torino are all interested in signing him. It would be nice if this involved a cash purchase as opposed to another loan. We don't want him darkening our doors again.

Cant the club just sack him? In most areas of employment attacking a colleague would be deemed gross misconduct and a sackable offence. I'm sure the offender wouldn't be entitled to compensation either for the remainder of a contract.

If we sack him, would also lose £15m. Remember , he is our most expensive player, with Wan next at £12.5 and Ramirez at £12m, (as was Long).

£27.5m on 2 players out on loan!

It is a pity that Osvaldo is so flaky - what about him and Pelle up front together. I think Fonte would have something to say, but if Osvaldo apologised, we would have a £15m striker in squad! (Only joking!)

This is getting like the movie "Slap Shot" where Ogilthorpe gets deported back to Canada, but they refuse to take him!

If we could sack him right now, it would save nearly 7 million pounds in future salary. I suspect that is more than we can sell him for.

Could Koeman get the best out of him?

Imagine coming up against both the Italian stallions, (pardon the phraseology) but it wouldn't be very enjoyable for any defence.

Agreed fonte would need to be on board, but fonte strikes me as a level headed leader who could deal with it.

That said I get the sense that Koeman values pace partnered with Pelle so I suspect he won't be interested......but it's a funny old game.
