| News Comment | The Seasons Verdict - Attack at 12:16:26
Agree with 'thedelldays', Sharp admitted himself that he was not as fit as the rest of the Saints squad. He was quoted as saying that Saints worked a lot harder than anyone he knew. |
| News Comment | The Season's Verdict - Full Backs at 17:41:39
That's all fair enough, but the problem with Nick is that he sees his views as totally correct, he accepts no others, and when, for example people disagree with his views on Dan Harding, he labels them "Dan Harding Lovers" as if to ridicule them! I thought Fonte was poor in several of our last half a dozen games but I'm sure he'll be on the teamsheet next season. |
| News Comment | The Season's Verdict - Full Backs at 04:22:58
Yawn, yawn yawn. Over ans over again. Just the same old posts. There are quite a few players whose contracts end this Summer, Harding still has 2 years. It will be interesting to await NA's new signings and our 25 man squad for next season. |
| News Comment | The Season's Verdict - Full Backs at 14:35:19
If you don't have the full stats to hand i.e. blocks, interceptions, tackles won etc. then you can't do a proper analysis. It always degenerates in a Fox/Harding debate which started to get boring ages ago. When full back attacks down the flanks it pulls defences out and can result in goals which don't come directly from the fullbacks themselves or in the form of assists, it just gives the attackers more room to create chances. |
| News Comment | Saints At Blackpool The Verdict at 11:19:25
There wouldn't have been a penalty to take if Lambert was playing as Guly would have not been in that positon to get fouled! Those who have only seen us on TV this season must be wondering how on earth we are top of the league. It was one of those games where IF we had scored the penalty and IF Jos had scored with that header then it could all have been different, and quite honestly for a team that are topping the table we should have done but I'm sure we will get it right again against Pompey, and also at Palace with nearly 6000 behind us. Even the Reading game I think we will take 3 points because Reading stick to 4-4-2 and do not play any other way so it will be a good open contest. |
| News Comment | Why No Sharp ? at 16:34:32
..correction, the previous article. |
| News Comment | Why No Sharp ? at 16:33:18
Nick, you seem to be avoiding the issue in the previous post. |
| News Comment | Saints At Hull The Verdict at 13:31:05
AreYouSure: Good to hear your comments. I would not question Nick's knowledge of football and neither yours because I would never claim to be more knowledgable than the next man but I tend to agree with bstokesaint with regard to Hooiveld. I think Hooiveld has become better and better to the extent that he has grown more in stature than Fonte! I would like to see a partnership between Hooiveld and Aaron Martin as it seems Fonte does not seem to be such a class player as everyone thought he was. Don't get me wrong as I don't wish to run Fonte down, it is just that he doesn't seem so self assured as he used to. But there's one thing that I would point out about so-called poor performances: We have been in the top two all season long and to say that we have put in poor performances is all relative to those teams around us. We remain in pole position and 5 points clear; enough said! |
| News Comment | Saints At Hull The Verdict at 12:10:04
Scared to say too much in case the mockers are put on it, but just as it seemed that Reading were going to steamroller their way through, in one round of fixtures everything seems to have changed! The Prem is now within touching distance so let hope we finish this season like we did the last. COYR!! |
| News Comment | Only One Thing Matters Now at 11:10:16
It's going to the wire and it's a case of holding our nerve. All teams can look back and point out where they could have picked up more points.WHU think that they should be coasting it if they had not dropped so many home points - over 20 I think. Even Reading who had such a poor start to the season, so let's not dwell on that 10 game bad spell, the rest of the season starts now! I fancy Leeds to beat WHU on Saturday - what a blow that would be to the Hammers. |
| News Comment | Saints V Barnsley The Verdict at 11:10:05
Guly had a great game on Saturday and hardly put a foot wrong, seemd to be involved in most things so take note all the anti-Guly-ites! Don't think Saints first goal was against the run of play, it just took us a while to get into our stride and Barnsley were never in it. It was a game where we didn't have to get out of first gear and controlled it throughout. I guess 5 wins is what we need now, so long as one of them is against Reading! COYR. |
| News Comment | Saints Vs Barnsley The Preview at 10:12:29
Agree with Fordy. For the first dozen games NA never changed the team at all and it was only through suspension and injury that forced him to do so. Billy Blunt has been a bit disappointing as I expected him to hit the ground running but he's had difficulty in fitting into the team having to feed off Lambert instead of being the main striker for Donny. We're on a good run though and NA hasn't tinkered unnecessarily but I think it's evident that the season has taken its toll on some of the players. |
| News Comment | Top Ten Facts About Barnsley at 21:28:41
footnote: Charlie Williams was originally a professional football player with Doncaster Rovers as Barnsley had enough jokers in their team at the time and during weekdays made up the cast of the popular TV show "The Comedians" to which Charlie was later signed up for. |

Obviously touched a nerve with the Leeds fans...and why start picking holes in everyone's grammar? We're primarily football fans here for a bit of banter not English students. Get a life. |

And if we don't quite make it? At least we should still be in the play-offs! |
| News Comment | Saints At West Ham The Verdict at 12:25:33
colinc: Yes, that would be hard to accept if it was true but it is not. Sharp was no disgrace - more like Lallana for diving. Don't know how WH were hard done by, it was a def sending off, throwing Sharp to the ground so get back to East End where you belong. |
| News Comment | Richardson Doubt For Derby County game at 12:20:25
Jos would only be comfortable on the left, as he's frequently swapping positions with Fox during a game. It would either be Cork or Harding at RB. |
| News Comment | Saints V Derby County The Preview at 12:17:54
Nick, I think you're spot on and looking at the remaining fixtures I think what you predict is achievable especially as the teams around us are due to play each other therefore someone is going to be dropping points. More likely that Harding will come in at RB, but then again we're back with the 'square pegs' scenario although I wouldn't think the Derby attack would not cause him too many problems. After all the moaning West Ham fans did after the game on Tuesday, I would love to finish above them now. |
| News Comment | Saints V Burnley The Verdict at 16:46:11
No looking back once Lallana had put us in front, and a professional display throughout the 2nd half. No 3rd goal but securing the 3 points and keeping a clean sheet was the important thing. Not the usual quick slick passing game as we saw at the start of the season but they seemed to want to get the ball in the box quicker which was good to see. Also, I noticed that Kelvin often booted the ball upfield rather than keep trying to play it out from the back all the time. Would have liked to seen Fox close down their winger a bit more as he didn't manage to block many of their crosses but lucky for us they were not strong in the air and our defence coped with them ok. A good team selection by NA with so many options now that we've just about got a fully fit squad. Look out Hammers! |
