Definitely try some sagardoa (cider). I recall Nueva Plaza in the Old Town being lively at night and having some nice eating/drinking establishments.

Agree with others about the Guggenheim, impressive building, artwork less so. Although, the pintxos from the cafe was very nice.

This is it, these players won't come back and play a full 90, peak fitness and performance. It'll take a few games to get them up to speed.

As Clive says, we can't afford to sack-off any more games.

I don't want Marti sacked either, but I am considering the possibility that another loss could be the end for him. I think this is the worse we've been since we've come back down from the PL? We all know the context, but as I've mentioned in my previous replies - do the decision makers see it as we do?

You could be right regarding the next three games, but I suppose it depends how other results go? If we win and the teams around us lose, great. If we lose and they win, then we're really starting to look cut adrift.

I think Marti being sacked would be the season defining action, I just wonder if this game is the decider for him?

A very reasoned view, but will the owners see it as you do?

Marti certainly has long line of credit...with the fans, but do the decision makers feel the same?

Did we really need such a detailed update? Something along the lines of sh*t, creek and paddle would have done.

The big question is, if we lose will Marti be sacked?

Might sound a bit sensational, but this could be a season defining game.

All of us on here, to varying degrees, are a bit ‘special’, and I don’t mean ‘special’ in the way our mothers mean it.

Anyway, you seem like a good egg and this site is providing much needed humour during very uncertain times.

Great writing Clive!

Can’t believe your Dad would make you leave 15 minutes before the end. That would have driven me mad!

Mark Warburton interview

He really struggled with injuries, which was unfortunate as I think we could have done better. I do recall the football being really pedestrian at times. As with a lot of people who have come through the doors at QPR in recent times, he talks a good game.

Is anyone else a bit done?
at 12:01 10 Nov 2024

I know it’s bad at the moment, but for me the time I felt most despondent about Rangers was during our last few stints in the PL. It felt like we were play acting at being a Premier League team. I found everything about it thoroughly depressing. That disgusting badge really sums up that period - NW’s league winning season aside - it’s a time I’d happily forget.

As crazy as it sounds I still really enjoy going to Rangers, it’s not about the winning, although it is great when we do, but it seems to be a bit more of a complex emotional attachment. It’s tied in with our sense of identity, family, childhood memories, a sense of place. If it’s all about the winning then you must be clinically insane to support QPR.

I’m not giving up my season ticket just yet. Even if we go down this season, I’ll still be there.

Is this season written off already?
at 20:45 9 Nov 2024

Definitely not written off yet.

As awful as we have been, given we’re about half way through the season and the points needed to get out of the bottom 3, it’s definitely possible to turn it around…but we’ve all watched this side.

If you skip to 7:31 David McIntyre says other clubs looked at him and said no. He says they spoke to people who had watched him and were told 'he was weak, he was slow, and he wouldn't be cut out for Championship football'.

This tells me two things. First, in relation to your point, the Luton game was the exception. As 1JD said, even a stopped clock is right twice a day. Secondly, it sounds like we've relied too much on data and overlooked the old fashion practice of actually watching a player.

This tentatively links to BurnleyHoop's point - I don't think this is an issue of 'psychological suitability'. I think it's simply about his footballing ability. Those glimpses of footballing ability are totally eclipsed by his lack of effort and application. There isn't a single player who's good enough to justify Madsen's level of application.

His signing is indicative of everything that's wrong with QPR. It's the footballing equivalent of Holloway's quote about diving into a barrel of tits and coming out sucking your thumb.

'Madsen, a 6ft 4in central midfielder, won zero tackles across 95 minutes of football. He won zero tackles, because he attempted zero tackles. 0/0, your central midfielder. He was involved in three ground duels and lost all of them. He was involved in one aerial duel and lost it. Zero successful dribbles from one attempt. Zero accurate crosses from one attempt. At our attacking corners, he stood outside the box. I’m going to mention his height again. At our attacking corners, he stood outside the box. We are through the looking glass here people..'

Is this the same Madsen who's cultured, languid style, and calmness would prevail in QPR's hour of need whilst the luddite fan foamed at the mouth as they screamed for more 'pashun' and 'tackling'?

Can't believe anyone had the temerity to question his ability. God forbid you should actually watch a player and make a judgement based on what you see.

Nourry should walk.
at 06:50 6 Nov 2024

Come on mate, keep the faith! We just need a striker in Jan window. On loan will do, possibly ex-prem, over 30, over weight? Loan out a couple of our right backs. Bring in a box to box midfielder from the Greek second division. Recruit a recruitment agent to recruit a head of strategy, planning and performance to optimise our travel output expenditures. They’ll produced a fully costed road-map for the next seven years and by the time March comes around well sitting pretty in 16th.

Edit: Nourry more likely to get an Uber than walk.
