Went to FC United v Benfica last night and it reminded me what football was all about. For me we should scrap the lot and start again whereas by everyone gets an equal slice of the cake, no player is paid the stupid money some are on and football should be accessible and affordable for everyone - sadly the Genie is out of the bottle. |

Am off to FC United v Benfica tonight as it's only 10 mins from home and is walkable - wonder how long it'll be before that is also a new ground for Blackpool fans!! |

I think the O's need to put substance behind their claims or this 'offer' will never be taken seriously by Blackpool fans. Quite who would want to come in and just buy the football side of the business makes the whole situation even more fanciful. |

Seems to me some are now starting to get quite offensive to those who are prepared to pay money to go in to Bloomfield Road. No names mentioned but scan some of the 'higher profile' Blackpool fans on Twitter and actually some of their language towards those who do want to still pay to go and watch their team is quite offensive and patronising. Clearly this has not, as TAM said, come from BST but I do feel this divide is playing right in to the O's hands and alienating our fan base from one another even more. |

Great piece Wilf - tragic that good people like you have been pushed away from the club - keep writing the articles and chewing your gums! |

An excellent thread on the subject and once again Karl has divided the fanbase although I get the feeling this has been invented by the same people who came up with the ridiculous season ticket leaflets based on the election (clearly they had a brainstorming session without any brains). Karl needed a way to appease the fans and he has failed to do it in one fell swoop. When will he realise that the only way the majority of fans will judge him (I think it's a given that most want him out) is to reverse the decline of the last four years. Competent management, investment in players that go beyond flaky 12 month deals, rewarding the youngsters who step up, having a pitch which is worthy of playing on and ending this ridiculous 'us versus them mentality'. Personally I think it's all gone too far both on and off the pitch. The fans will never trust him again and to get players to come to this club (let alone a manager) will be an uphill struggle next season. He'll either have to pay over the odds (his own fault) or we will be left with the dregs. |
| Forum Thread | Average attendance last season at 09:06 25 May 2015
Interesting looking at out average last season - 10,928 (btw Bournemouth's was 8,480 and Brentford's 8,765 and they were top six) - lowest was Rotherham 8,354 but bearing in mind just how empty the stands were on some games you'd have to say we were probably lower than that for the second half of the campaign. I'd expect 7,000 ST holders despite everything next season - mainly based on the 2 year deal - and topped up with a few interested home fans and the usual smattering of away fans that the average next season won't be much more than 8,000. So in 5 years the O's have halved the fan base - that takes some doing!! |
| Forum Reply | Any theories on how we could have avoided going down? at 13:58 23 May 2015
Tend to agree with all the posts on this one .. I actually think by the time we beat Liverpool for the second time everyone just became a little bit complacent and the general feeling was 'we'd done enough'. Beattie and Reid were a disaster (and was it Kornilenko) and so rather than build for the next season and bring in players who would strengthen us, we dealt and just added numbers. Just one more attacking option (or a better goalkeeper) and we'd have got the couple of points we'd have needed. |

I think way too many people were too dismissive of this idea when it was announced yesterday .. time for KO to bend over and take a good kicking ... as long as the right fans are put forward and we have a strong Chairman! |

A football forum which has a mixture of fans always makes for a better read - we used to attract far more fans from other clubs than we seem to now .. maybe we've become a bit unpalatable as fans? |

Sounds a bit spurious - goes to show you can't have your cake or eat it! BTW - anyone producing aforementioned KOKO cake .. can you save me a slice .. preferably his head on a plate!! |
