Halford is missing and don't forget the part that Cureton played, albeit as a loan signing, but he was the catalyst for our season turning around. I agree that the 2005/06 team was far superior in pretty much every position. I think a few of this year's team would make the squad with maybe Iandolo and Edwards pushing for a starting spot. Also football was different back then to how it is now. I think our best team that season was: Gerken Halford Brown Chilvers Duguid Garcia Watson Danns Iwelumo Cureton Yeates I forget that we went into that final game against Yeovil with no Brown, no Yeates, no Garcia and no Cureton. I think the promotion season was Parkinson's third full season in charge and we'd finished 15th, 12th, 11th and 15th in the previous four. Cowley has been in charge for just over a season and our last four season's have seen us finish 20th, 15th, 20th and 22nd. From where we were 12 months ago it's quite some turnaround. And we've sold four players in that time plus two of our better players from last season decided to leave. |

I'm expecting the same starting XI but with Iandolo in midfield instead of Hunt, as it was on Tuesday night. According to what I've read Iandolo's yellow cards at Swindon DO NOT count in terms of yellow card accumulation so he sits on nine yellow cards going into Saturday's game. It's game 37 so pretty much the last chance for him to be suspended for accumulation of yellow cards. Fingers crossed he stays out of the referee's book as we can't afford to lose him for two games at this stage of the season. |

I watched Darren Moore as he strode onto the pitch at the final whistle and walked towards the officials. When he got there he quickly shook each one by the hand before doing the same to every Col U player that passed him. He then went to his own team and encouraged them to thank their supporters as he did the same. Can't ask for much "Moore" than that from a manager of a team that has just lost their long unbeaten record to a late goal. |

Always interesting how people see things differently, especially football matches, as I thought the ref was pretty poor last night and got a fair number of decisions wrong and also made some real baffling ones too. |

We commented similar at the time saying that it seemed a little unfair. Flanagan was not happy at the final whistle and had to be pulled away from the referee by a member of the coaching staff. |

Iandolo played in the middle with Read. Egbo stayed at right back and Hunt played left back. Iandolo also picked up a yellow card, possibly for protesting after their goal, this takes him to 10 bookings in the league this season. Does this mean he's now suspended for the next two matches or does the first yellow card against Swindon, where he received a second yellow card and was subsequently sent off, not count? Seems a little unfair to receive a second suspension for the same yellow card if it does count. |

Q1 - No official word but I did hear his hamstring was strapped up which is concerning. Q2 - KVY still has a sickness bug and hasn't trained this week. Gordon has the same bug. |

Obviously this season has massively turned around since November but just how good is it? We currently have 52 points from 35 matches. That is our equal fifth best return from 35 matches in the last 25 seasons! 2009/10 - 63 points (the 7-1 and Boothroyd season) 2005/06 - 59 points (the promotion season) 2019/20 - 55 points (the Play Off season and Covid) 2018/19 - 54 points (the so near but yet so far season) 2006/07 - 52 points (the first Championship season) It's crazy to think we've got the same amount of points at the same stage as the first Championship season. That season seemed so much better than this one but maybe that was due to the level of expectation at the time and number of wins, especially at home. Personally I don't think we'll have quite enough to finish in the Play Offs this season but whatever happens from now it's been quite the turnaround and, hopefully, puts us in a great position for a proper promotion push next season. |

Evidently KVY has the sickness bug and hasn't trained and Gordon has also gone down with it. We are going to a bit short tonight. Need Read back to his best and the sooner the better. McDonnell is going to a huge miss over the next few games. |
