No. You yourself made the comparison with Ireland mentioning their explosion in GDP over the last decade or so that was brought about by the country becoming the biggest tax haven in the world.
How else would a largely agrarian country with a small population get such a massive boost in GDP in such a short period?
He was an ambassador for the 1912 foundation years ago not sure if he’s still involved but I have seen interviews where he’s said he’s not a big football fan.
For someone who claims to be left wing he doesn’t half lean into some right and even far right ideologies. A nationalist who believes we should be a tax haven where the rich can play whilst everyone else lives off crumbs that may or not trickle down at some point. He’s a bit of a Thatcherite really.

It’s not 8 years though is it? We left the EU in early 2020 then went straight into a pandemic for 2 years. Progress was being made with the Trump administration but then The Biden administration started playing silly buggers over Ireland so talks stagnated so we had to reach agreements with individual states instead.
