Was Prestons goal totally against the morals of the game
at 19:52 21 Dec 2024

I had no problem with it. Just one of those things that happens. We benefitted a few years back against Sheff U when there keeper jumped above his own centre back with nobody near them, fell over the top and dropped the ball on the floor for our forward to walk the ball in the net.

Looking a far better player over the last few games. Great assist for Kholi and nearly repeated it for Chair. The cut inside and shot that hit the crossbar would have been goal of the season done and dusted. Always been a player in there and he’ll always be loved by the crowd for his effort. Hopefully like a few other players he will kick on.

Man of the match for me. He really drove the team forward and was the main trigger of the press. Also he played the pass of the match putting Field through for a chance he put past the post. I think we have a real gem here.

Didn’t realise that Matt Phillips was their no.10. Christ how any club can employ that lump. He looks to put it as politely as I can ‘swollen’. Never bothered to try and take on Ashby once as he knew he couldn’t outpace a walking Ashby. And as others have said, worst team seen down the Bush since, well let’s be honest the Ainsworth side that surrendered to Blackburn last season.

I’m still steaming that the game was never played after 38 years!

It is something that Marti said that he would employ when he first came. He had a seven second rule that we had to regain possession in that time. The lack of press since has been a big disappointment for me. Whether it is because the lead is usually the centre forward, Dykes did it pretty well but Frey for his undoubted trying totally lacked the pace and stamina required and similarly Celar. Maybe the difference was a young and fit Kolli? In the Stoke game, when Lloyd came on to replace Celar again there was a marked contrast and we were pressing much higher up and causing problems.

Yeah in the 42nd minute when other keepers get there’s in the seventh minute of injury time in the second half when playing against us.

And got rid of Salah on the cheap to Wolfsburg. Still cannot understand how with the amount they have spent on players in the last two years how they haven’t been charged under the PSR and on top of that wasn’t there an investigation in dodgy dealings with Putin’s mate that was happening before the club was sold?

Sainz was lucky to stay on the pitch with his continued bleating. Should have been yellowed for throwing the ball away when a decision went against him before he eventually got yellowed for that assault on Ashby. Still Dunne did manage to break his nose in the first few minutes with a sly elbow in the first few minutes.

With 80mph winds from the west against an average walking speed of 3mph I calculate that you’ll be in Copenhagen by kick off!

Very enjoy match. Thought that against Stoke we played the best we had all season, but today was much improved on last Saturday with some really pleasing individual performances, in fact I cannot think that any of our players had a poor game. Celar suddenly looks the part and could have had two excellent goals but for a great save and an extra wide post! Smyth caused a lot of problems again and is starting to learn to put a decent cross in, especially two pull backs to Madsen and Saito, which both should have been converted. Madsen suddenly looks a decent player, really put in a shift today and I really like the look of Verane. Pleased with the result but really think we could have put that game to bed by half time. Feeling much more positive today.

Right near the end Lloyd made three challenges in succession and was determined to get the ball and did which set up the final chance which Saito headed over. Other than goals that is what I want to see from a centre forward, a bit of a battering ram. Was really unlucky with his chance as the goalkeeper managed to get something on the shot which deflected it onto the post. I do like Lloyd, he has the makings of a half decent forward and certainly a better prospect than Armstrong.

For me that was the best performance of the season by far but once again mistakes have cost us. Gave them the goal and then Celar, I mean, take a penalty, goalkeeper saves it then fine, that happens, but at least hit it between an area that is 192sq ft from 12 bloody yards. We ain’t got no space for sentiment and why Madsen didn’t take it I don’t know. Enjoyed the performances of both Saito (MOTM for me), and Smyth, but again, will someone teach Smyth the science of keeping your body shape when shooting. Verrane is also starting to settle into the team now and is looking a decent signing, Madsen was better, even made a tackle and Morrison looks a decent centre half, very composed and hopefully will have no more injury issues. All in all thought we deserved the win and with a little bit more luck we could have replicated the score from last season. 23 attempts on goal is a big move forward.

Positive vibes/happy stories thread #19
at 09:51 6 Nov 2024

My 15 year old son, Joshua has had to endure an unsightly divorce between his parents that should never have dragged on to such a degree. He’s a good lad, polite, never in trouble, well behaved at school, respectful and a really pleasant human being. However his school work dived massively last year and his exam results absolutely tanked. He has one major love above all else, aviation. His ambition since being knee high to a grasshopper has been to be a pilot.

I had started him on flying lessons at the start of this year, flying out of Solent airport. When I was told his exam results in March we had a proper one to one chat about what was needed to get his grades up ready for GCSE’s this year. I told him that the only way in which I felt would motivate him was to link flying lessons to a marked improvement. I told him I would email his various teachers and would want regular feedback. The results have been astonishing. In March for Maths he was forecasted to get grade one. He is now pushing for a five. English, two, now looking for a 6, science 3, his latest exams, his marks could not have been higher. At a recent parents evening his science teacher to quote ‘this is the greatest transformation I have ever seen in a pupil, it’s been wonderful’.

So Josh has been maintaining his flying lessons and on Monday, on his 12th lesson, started to practice landing, five circuits and five touch and goes, the final three his instructor said were spot on. The aim now is for him to achieve his Private Pilots Licence as soon after his 17th birthday. I am immensely proud of my son. He must have been through hell and back over the last few years but he has held himself together with great courage.

On his performances so far Morgan is one of the 4 or 5 that should be starting. He shows for the ball. Tracks back, looks for the right pass and isn’t hiding. The more senior players need to take a leaf out of his book.

Andy Belk is without doubt for me useless. An example is that we pay £2million for Madsen who is weaker than water, no experience in English football and teams like Blackburn pick up Todd Cantrell for £1.6million, a player who learned his trade at Norwich in both the EFL and PL and then in Scotland. Ok, the guy may have had a few issues but if we had always worked by such values we would never have signed Stan. We also let a decent manager go, who was the perfect replacement for Warburton and in that time we have got onto our fourth manager. And that guy got Brom in the top six before unfairly being replaced by Wayne’s Rooney and now working wonders at Blackburn. No doubt Belk had a say with his laptop on this decision.
