LFW Travel Guides — Hull, KC Stadium
at 13:19:43

Used the park and ride for the slightly bigger rugby crowds? Which dream was this in. Since moving into the KC Hull City have had averages from 17,000 in the bottom division to over 24,000 in the premier league. Hull's averages have ranged from 10,000 - 14,000. Hull City's average for last season was more than the highest attendance for a Hull FC match. In fact the only time Hull Fc have got over 20,000 was for the visit of neighbour Hull Kingston Rovers. The crowd for this season's local rugby derby, referred to by rugby fans as the biggest derby in sport and likened by the local media to a Rangers v Celtic clash, drew 17,000. A bit embarrassing when the week after City had over 22,000 there, which included only about 400 away fans.
Your writer seems to have been brainwashed in his time in Hull or affected by the peculiar malaise which which afflicts rugby league fans who imagine rugby league is a major sport and Hull is a rugby "town" (they refer to it as a town despite the clue in the name of the football club). This despite all the highest crowds in Hull being for Hull City matches and Hull City getting as many as the 2 rugby clubs combined. and that is in the top flight of their support. When Rovers were in their second division the averaged 2,000 and Hull FC 10,000 whilst we averaged 18,000 in what is Division 3 of our sport.
