Agree with that. Thought he was unlucky with the give away that led to the goal, if that turn had come off he’d have been away. We sit front row on Ellerslie and he was livid with himself when that goal went in. 2 minutes later he’s settled Sam up. Speaks volumes to his character and attitude. He took full responsibility AND went about putting in right. Fair play |

I take your point on this, but the one thing for me that is missing in the discussion is intensity. You can train, per Mr Izzard, to run those marathons and succeed, but you are doing it in a controlled way and not racing/ competing. The minute you start to operate at the intensity required by competitive sport the injury risks magnifies massively. The reason hamstrings are torn (aside from the lack of proper training and recovery) are because the body is at its absolute physical limit, and then you push it further. Put it to its limits repeatedly and injuries happen. This isn’t just true in our club, all clubs suffer with this - just look at Saka, De Bruyne - and they are getting the very best treatment. Plus, as Clive has said many times, we will have players more prone to physical breakdown than clubs with money - there’s a reason JCS is with us and not Leeds. It also doesn’t mean the players (and staff) aren’t doing everything they can to be fit. It’s just they can’t for repeated periods of such intensity - especially 3 game weeks where we have little option for squad rotation…. |

“Insisting he take it” would be way too impolite for Madsen. He spends his afternoons saying “after you” to all the oppo players…. |

Athletic Brewing, tried loads when had to be off the beer, still drink now to keep it healthy and tastes better than many alcoholic beers. There’s a lager and IPA’s |

Battersea Park. It's one of the most diverse (activity-wise) of all the parks, with the choice of big green open spaces, Go Ape, an Adventure Playground and a Zoo for the kids, plus a Boating Lake, tennis courts, sports centre and running track in the middle, and numerous all-weather football & hockey pitches and and cricket in the summer. There's a 5km pedestrian/ cycling path circumnavigating it and you can hire bikes too. A couple of cafes and you are also on the edge of the river where, I think, is central London's only Pagoda in a park. The Peace Pagodas, there are 80 around the World, including the site in Battersea, were built as part of Buddhist monk Nichidatsu Fujii’s (1885—1985) advocacy for world peace and non-violence. It's also next door to the recently opened and revamped Battersea Power Station, which is great. Always a favourite of ours and our Canadian relatives when they come to visit. |

Which Manager? We’ve tried 4 and the result has been the same, so either Warburton, Beale, Critchley and Ainsworth are all rubbish (and previous performances would suggest not) or there is something deeply wrong with what has been (despite injuries) a pretty constant group of players throughout their times in charge…. |

But they don’t care and there are no repercussions anyway, so they’ll basically carry on doing what they want, sh!t or not… |
| Forum Thread | Talent x Form x Effort = Performance at 17:41 27 Feb 2023
So, having read thread after thread and Clive's brilliant analysis of what's going on at QPR these dark days, I thought I'd have a bit of a focus on the players, just for shits and giggles, because I want to rationalise how we can have plummeted from top of the league to proper relegation form. Is it because we are crap? Is it because nobody cares; is it because of a serious loss of form. I genuinely don't believe that the vast majority of players want to play badly, but performances can suggest that, so how do we assess a player more than "he was shite". For me it's down to 3 things: 1 Are they TALENTED. Broadly this is pretty constant, albeit younger players talent will develop more than seasoned one's 2. How's their FORM. Are they playing to the best of their ability (talent). Form is, obviously a sine wave, capturing and maintaining it are key 3. Are they making an EFFORT. Are they trying, physically and mentally So elite performance requires talent, form and effort, but good form and great effort can make up for lesser talent. Loads of talent with no form and no effort isn't going to end well. Ossie & Tim are great examples of this, Ossie not that talented (not his fault, we hired him) but works hard on form and gives great effort, so gets MoM vs Blackburn. Tim, obviously talented but terrible form and effort means he may as well have been wearing a Blackburn shirt... This is how I feel the team (players we see most of and judging some pre-injury/ illness) are currently, with talent based on Championship standards. Just my opinions, don't shoot me for it!!! Talent Form Effort Dieng 7 6 6 Dickie 6 3 5 Dunne 7 5 8 Laird 8 4 5 Paal 7 6 6 Kakay 5 7 8 Johansen 8 6 7 Field 7 7 8 Iroegbunam 8 3 3 Chair 9 6 9 Willock 9 4 6 Dozzell 5 5 5 Adomah 6 4 6 Richards ? ? ? Roberts 7 4 4 Lowe 7 4 4 Martin 8 6 5 Dykes 6 4 8 So my conclusion, for what it's worth, is that we have a team that is "talented enough" for the top half of this league - they aren't crap. Our individual form is patchy, which is going to drag our team form down a lot. Effort is also patchy. Even with poor form with the talent we have and 100% effort from every player, as a team we could and should be winning games. I guess I draw some hope from that and GA's challenge is to fix the mental and physical effort levels to start getting any kind of results. |

A really pragmatic assessment amongst the feeding frenzy around Manager/ DoF and Board right now, thanks! I tend to agree with all you have said, especially re the owners - and certainly better the devil you know. Whether they have been right or wrong, they have always come across as having the club's best interests at heart. I fear it is too late for NC, especially if tomorrow goes really badly, and if he hasn't lost [all] of the fans, he certainly appears to have lost the players, whether his fault or theirs doesn't really matter, outcome is the same... |
