Why didn't you like Sofia Matt?

Wasn't much to do, lots of gypsies, very run down.

But on the upside everything is cheap

genk would be the ideal team to play. close enough and could beat them. if we were going for a glamour tie then benfica are the biggest club there and pretty close. Id personally rather play a team we can beat though.

a nightmare tie would be rubin or shakter

Agree Genk is the best draw for your reasons stated.

What time is the draw ?

We can't play teams from our own group or association.

Also you have Fiorentina and Napoli the wrong way round.

I disagree, Florence is north of Rome and Naples is south of Rome so I reckon Steve has got them more or less spot on - unless he changed them after your post and before I'd seen the map.

I did think this but then I thought that if you extrapolate the view, our only real ambition becomes to get to 40 points. As long as we do get to 40 points every season I'd actually rather see us have a lash at the cups than just scramble up a few mid league places. Who cares if we're 13th or 8th really. WBA were 8th last season. Who cares. I'd rather have the league cup in the bag, as I'm sure would most if not all. Strangely maybe, I wasn't too bothered about this comp, but now I really am and would be disappointed to not get further.

In essence, as long as we get safe, I think this should become our major focus for the rest of the season.

I'm still wondering why people want us to just exit the competition at every possibly opportunity.

We have come through 10 games, have 20 points on the board in the league before the halfway point and are doing fine

Since when did football become about concentrating on the league only, I want us to go all out to try and win the bloody thing, no point in being in it otherwise. Which also means that we may as well not bother pushing on too much in the league or entering cups either.

Aye. I was in priority mode rather than absolutes. If we're talking absolutes, I want us to try our hardest to win every single game we play. Unless we qualify by not winning, then I don't care.

whats the point of us existing if we are not gonna try to compete for these types of trophies. Id rather us win this and get relegated than go straight out and finish 11th in the prem.

Yep, that's exactly what happened!

I also agree that while playing a big team now and going out wouldn't be the the end of the world, I'd much rather play someone like Genk or AZ or Salzburg and give ourselves the best chance of getting through. Chances are we won't play in Europe again for a long time, so let's enjoy it and go as far as we can. Our league form is fine if not spectacular, and like a few posts above have alluded to, who cares if we finish 8th or 14th? Would much rather have a good run in a cup.

Aye fair point I'm probably being selfish,it affects my life not having 3pm kick offs on a Saturday and it pisses me off somewhat.

I would say enjoy the next two months, but we don't seen to have too man 3pm kick offs in that time anyway.

Genk 3 hours drive from Calais
Alkmaar 4 hours drive from Calais

Wouldn't mind either of those
