Hughes is one of the front runners for the Everton job. Great if he gets it as we won't have to pay him anymore. When was his contact with us due to expire?

Poll: Are we staying up?

Can't see it to be honest.

First question any Chairman would ask him is 'what went wrong at QPR, you had a full pre-season, and were able to buy who you wanted'.

I'd like to see him talk his way out of that one.

I can't see Kenwright, or any other top flight team considering Hughes for a job.

Martinez or Laudrup I reckon. Both would be a long way ahead of Hughes in the shortlist, if he's actually on it at all, which I doubt.

Can't see it either.

If Wigan get relegated, and I expect they will, then Martinez will be a perfect fit.

It's not what you've got; it's where you stick it.

Hughes has just been interviewed on Sky.

Had to fight the urge to stick my boot into the screen.

Hughesless will not be Everton manager

Toffees fans in general hate the fella though probably not as much as we do

The sad thing is that pompous self important prik can sit there picking up dosh until the right club for him to interview comes along. I personally don't think he'll ever get a decent managerial position again but although I hate myself for it I really hope he does. It stops us paying him large and gives us the chance of seeing him at W12 and giving him a warm welcome

Cherish and enjoy life.... this ain't no dress rehearsal

He does have his friends in the media doesn't he.
Got about as much chance as me, of getting that gig! ;)

Agreed.

He'll need to rebuild his reputation in the lower leagues, but he doesn't have the humility to do this.

I quite like Everton. They don't deserve Hughes.

I just don't get the love for Martinez. Wigan are nearly relegated every year (not the case under Steve Bruce or Jewell) and they defend abysmally.

Surely there are far better candidates for the Everton job.

Malky Makaay (sp.) has to be one of the best young managers around for instance.

I work with plenty of Evertonians.
To a man they are terrified that he is even being linked with the job.

Hughes would certainly fit the bill for Everton. Bruised by #qpr but still has what it takes for a club of #efc stature. No money, though

Ah, very interesting.

Seriously, Everton can't be that stupid, can they? And if the pool of managerial talent is so small that Hughes can get a job with a premier league club, the FA should be holding some sort of internal inquiry.

Warnock would be a better shout, and I don't expect him to get near the job

Got an Evertonian mate that STILL hates QPR just because hughes was a manager in the past

This is the first time he's turned up in the media since getting the boot, must want this job bad. LOL Interview in the trophy room.

I'd be staggered if he got the job. He left Fulham because they "lacked ambition", in other words they didn't hand him the cheque book.
Kenwright wouldn't touch him surely.

Wish I could be like David Watts

"I can't see Kenwright, or any other top flight team considering Hughes for a job."

They won't, it'll be Hughes considering them for his meticulous planning of matches.

Only if he wanted to send them into administration and potentially bankrupt them.

"one of the front runners" - I'd be very surprised if he is. I believe the Americans call this "generating heat for your client." Hughes can be everywhere this week talking about Ferguson, "oh and while you're at it why don't you slip in a question about Everton, off the record between you and me we've already held preliminary talks."

And wouldn't you just know it, there's Martin Lipton tipping him as a good appointment. As said higher up, don't have to be Poirot to work out where he got his Dubai story do you?
