These 3 albums all changed my life when I was a young teenager of 14/15. They opened my eyes and have had a pretty profound impact on the way I look at the world now.
And they're all brilliant!
Nirvana - Nirvana Rage Against The Machine - Rage Against The Machine The Stone Roses - Turns Into Stone

What a killer question, I nearly took a day off to work out my three! It felt so wrong to leave out Pink Floyd, Agitation Free, Soundgarden, Mortal Sin, Grand Funk and Ashra/Ashra Tempel to name but a few but needs must...
1- Force Majeure by Tangerine Dream: I only had space for ten cassettes when I went on my year abroad and this was one of them. I played it to death. Packed with melody lines and weird effects but propelled along superbly by a human drummer and spiced up with plenty of guitar from Herr E Froese.
2 - The viewing point by Suffolk's finest, The Future Kings of England: By turns rocking, spooky, eerie, epic, yet the band has somehow created their own distinctive identity out of that musical smorgasbord.
3 - Strangeitude by Ozric Tentacles. Some astonishingly inventive stuff from Ed and his cohorts. Strange(itude) fact: Most of you on here will have seen Ed's hands - because his father, sculptor David Wynne, designed that old 50 pence piece with the hands on. Dad used sons' hands for the design (RIP Roly Wynne)

So difficult, I guess the most honest way to work it out is by the number of plays they get, on that basis my three are
Tom Petty and the Hearbreakers Highway to Hell - AC/DC Belladonna - Stevie Nicks
Best 3 live albums as a cheeky bonus Bablylon by Bus - Bob Marley The Song Remains The Same - Led Zep Live at Brixton - Faith No More

Bloody hell there's about 30 of my favourites just in other people's choices. Specially glad to see "The Raven" by Stranglers get a mention, v underrated IMO. But three of my own which I don't think have been mentioned:-
All About Eve - hard to pick but I'll go for the 1st album Bowie - StationtoStation. All you metalheads should try the title track played at 11, it might surprise you Bobby Womack - Across 110th Street

can't believe i overlooked Bobby Womack; would have probably gone for the first of the poet trilogy. was 4 when 110th street came out so not in my 3 as I've stuck to those I bought when released
ddcided this game is too hard, should stick to 3 favourite crisp flavours!

As a few people have chosen Van Morrison...one of the great things about the internet is that people write long essays about the meaning of 'Madame George'.
