so yes or no now??? 16:56 - Nov 10 with 7420 viewsRangersDave

OK, some of you answered no last week and some said yes.

Have you changed your minds now?

Should we be rid of MH now? Yes or No?

Yes from me still.

Not yet. Ask me after Southampton and I may have changed my mind.

Get rid of Hughes and the problems remain. Players who see this club as a pension top-up, owners who see signing 'name' players as success in itself, and on the pitch a lack of penetration and a lack of a commanding centre half.

And looking around there's no-one I'd honestly like to see taking over. It's all a bit of a bummer really.

Hmmmmm - wouldn't argue either way - you couldn't blame TF for giving him the elbow, but then again stability is much needed at QPR... results though are stretching patience to the limit.

IMO I would like to see 'arry there - he has done good things in this league, and he's not in a position to be overly picky. I don't think we'd get Martinez in a million years - he already has unlimited support from his boss with an added bonus of a handshake and 'go with my blessings' should a big club come calling. He is not going to walk out on that to to a team which has been propping up the league for the past 2 seasons. Zola and Di canio would be a gamble at this level, and I realise that we're looking at the last throw of the dice, but would an entire demolition of the management and team be worth doing if you are just going to gamble on 1 of 2 young managers?

I say no right now in the hope that we're going to miraculously turn it around from here on in - if we're not going perform a miracle, then in my opinion we're better off going for Redknapp. I actually like him, and despite the S'oton job, I think he's done a great job at spurs. I can't quite see some of the viewpoints on appointing Redknapp - beggars can't be choosers, and we're in a doorway down the strand offering our jacksy to anyone who can get us out of this mess.

All thing considered I think I'd see us get relegated this year, lose the mercenaries (along with Hughes) in the summer and rebuild with 12million a year parachute payment in our pockets, rather than employ someone as detestable as Harry Redknapp.

The lack of decent managers in this country is matched only by the shortage of talented footballers.

Yes - Go..

Get in this order:

1.Redknapp
2. Di CAnio
3. Benetiz

We will go down under Hughes and his coaches. They have no idea.

I was a committed supporter of Hughes, then a doubtful supporter, then a shamefaced supporter. The Reading game finally tipped me over.

I don't want Redknapp. In fact I don't know who I want. But now the point is that it's no longer about whether there's anyone around who's better, it's that no one around could do worse.

Firstly, I think that parachute payments are higher than 12 mill. That said, sorting out the "mercenaries'" (players and management) contracts is going to cost a sh*tload more than that.

Take into account reduced ticket prices, smaller gates, reduced sponsorship and less TV money and the business model looks rocky indeed. If rich owners decide that that is a recipe for disaster, I can sympathise. (I couldn't sympathise with T&C turning off thge tap just when promotion was achieved.)

I do not want to see the club relegated, because it will be a financial catastrophe.

Sorting out the mercenaries would be very simple - we're not talking about Rob Hulse hanging around because no-one else will have him. That man has cost us 1 million quid and 20k a week for three years!

Every single player we have would get a gig with a PL club, and on not much reduced money to they're earning now. We'd have to be prepared to sell them for next to nothing, but we'd get rid of them. And they'd be keen to go, they already see us as a step down so playing in the championship would be a non-starter.

Then we could use the 12million a year (guaranteed for fours years) to rebuild in a sustainable way, like we should have done five years ago instead of splurging on overrated and under performing players.

Never mind all the other reduced inputs I listed (and you ignored), let's just look at all the 'mercenaries': why do you call them that? Because they are displaying poor skills and/or attitudes, and yet still want to draw their huge wages? Bodes well for other clubs offering them comparable money, doesn't it? Perhaps you'll offer them al a good reference? And if they can't find another club to offer them enough? Looks like the 'Taliban' training ground will be busy for a while.

The ONLY solution is to make this team work this season. And where does that start? Hughes out.

I didn't ignore anything, I was making a simple point about clearing out the squad.

Come next summer, and we're in the championship, there will be options for someone like Jose Bosingwa despite how poor he's been for us. Football clubs the world over are run by incredibly stupid people who never take responsibility for their decisons or the consequences of them. There will be managers/chairmen looking for a full back and they'll see a Portuguese international, with two Champions League medals, that Chelsea paid 18million for, and they'll sign him. They'll convince themselves that his performances in 2012/13 were poor because of QPR or Mark Hughes, and that he's got a good two or three years left in him. Throw in the fact that we'll be desperate to get his wages off the books and he'll go on a free.

Same can be said for Zamora, Traore, Cisse, Ferdinand, etc. We won't get any money for them, or very little anyway, but they'll be desperate to go and we'll get rid of them. SWP might be a bit more of a problem though!

What do you think our wage bill is? My estimate is well north of 50 mill (25 man squad times an average of at least 40k a week, and that doesn't include management, reserves or under 21's).

So 12 mill, less the (ignored) reductions in ticket prices, gates, sponsorships and TV fees is going to run out pretty quick. So, say you're one of these numerous 'mercenaries', and let's be niggardly and say that you're only on the 40k, well, even with a free transfer, you're still a year older and a poor year at that, so what will you be offered, 20k, 25k? Big Dave thought he was worth what he was being paid before, and so would you. Rather than take a 750k a year pay cut, you're going to sit out your contract.

Our rich owners may well stick by us, but I think it more likely that they would find hemorrhaging money in the Championship or worse an unattractive proposition.

That is why we must not be relegated this season and why I say "Hughes out!"

I am glad it is not my decision and I will accept whatever TF does. It his his club and his money. I truely admire his loyalty to MH and hope that it wil comes good.

However, I admit that IF I were TF, then YES, I would make the decision to change (decision based on performance / results and not financial implications)

Completely agree with this.I think the consequences of going down this year scarcely bear thinking about.I'm pretty sure that it's the players with real talent and motivation that would quickly be cherry picked by PL clubs. Thus we would almost certainly be saying goodbye to the likes of Taarabt,Granero,Faurlin etc.-all the ones who make the present team worth watching.
We would be stuck with the ones who are here for their final pay day like Bosingwa,Park and Zamora plus a few who aren't good enough to get a move elsewhere like Ferdinand and Onuoha.Anyone fancy watching that team ?

No because I don't believe the fundamental problems/deficiencies with this group of individuals is going to be solved by a new manager.

Players are not going to stop being overpaid, uninterested, not good enough and all the other criticisms thrown at them over the last two months by bringing in a new manager.

Also as has been said/seen numerous times recently TF does not want to do it.

So what are you saying, that relegation is already inevitable? Or that we replace this squad in the transfer window?

This squad needs guidance, leadership and motivation (carrot and/or stick), and the fastest way to do that is to change the manager.

No.

But if we lose against Southampton then I switch to yes. If we draw then it's maybe a yes then too.

The mood if we start losing will be the first time the crowd properly goes for Hughes - not just a few people shouting at him at the end of the game but full on Hughes Out.

If not actually disgruntled, he was far from being gruntled. PG Wodehouse

Taarabt, Granero, Faurlin, Diakite, Hoilett could all be snapped up by PL clubs. But a relegation on their CV doesn't look good. We might not get back what we paid for them and they might be forced to take wage cuts they're not prepared for.
There's half a squad would struggle to get to other PL clubs and most of them are on contracts as long as the parachute payments are available. And they wouldn't be in a hurry to leave.

YES! Anyone on here could get the results Hughes has this season even my dog as manager could have done better, and might have even won us an away game by now. In that case anyone coming in with the right approach and who is prepared to immediately drop or substitute any player not putting in the effort or performance required irrespective of reputation would get better results.

I would like TF to give Alan Curbishley a chance, but I would really have liked to see what Olly could have done with this lot. If Hughes had gone when he should have that might have been a possibility and we would have had a better chance of staying up.

Who's Next?

0
so yes or no now??? on 20:29 - Nov 12 with 555 viewsMonahoop

I think Curbishley has been out of the loop for too long, but I would have considered him a few years back. Where is he anyway?

I think if the club are to change any time soon I think they would have to persuade someone to depart from their current employees. Get in someone like Poyet. Not tested at this level granted, but a forward looking, motivational type. Quite the opposite of what the club has at present.

There aint half been some clever bastards.
