All our yesteryears - worst managers 17:49 - Jan 22 with 2583 viewsskorpio1

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Queens_Park_Rangers_F.C._managers

after admitting to feeling guilty about hounding Alan Mullery out of the club back in '84 - who was our worst manager in recent times????

Mullers win % is actually rather good!!!!! if i remember rightly we had a chance to go top of the league but game called off. we then went on the slide and that was that. Who cud follow El Tel anyway???

We've had plenty of poor managers who were given poor teams to work with. Mullery was a pillock who was given a really good quality team to work with, and ineveitably made a mess of it.

Don Howe took over Francis certain to go down team, kept us up and got to the last 8 of the FA cup, very unlucky to get the sack IMHO .

Despite being well respected elsewhere Steve Burtenshaw and Frank Sibley were both disastrous.

The Houston / Rioch era was probably the worst because it was so pivotal to our long term, fall from grace.

and despite what other folk might believe I always thought Jim Smith was Mike Bassetts role model.

Would that be the same Jim smith who led us to 5th place in 1988 and a wembley final in 86. Yep definitely a bad manager. His only fault was supporting Oxford during that final.

I don't think Docherty took us very seriously, well that's the impression I got at the time. All mouth and trousers he was.Bloody useless. However my accolade for the worst R's gaffers since I've followed them has to be the three H's, Houston and Hart and Harford.

Christ! Hughes' surname begins with H. I hope he won't be the fourth to that list.

There aint half been some clever bastards.

I've always maintained Mullery was the worst but Steve Burtenshaw runs him close. He somehow managed to relegate a team that still contained Clement, Gillard, Hollins, Francis, Bowles and Parkes (for a large part of the season) of the 75/76 heroes, as well as Roeder, Busby and the emerging Goddard.

Frank Sibley.

Unleashed Brian Williams on to an unsuspecting public.

Paul Hart was bad and probably would have ended up the very worst ever had he been given the opportunity to do so.
However it's probably Houston and Ray Harford (in my era)

Mick thingy wasn't up to much either. (Red Wine tonight doing my memry bank).....
