January Transfer Thread 13:27 - Dec 23 with 84822 views | KeithHaynes | Done some asking and Oli McBurnie is most certainly up for a loan back to the UK this window. I’ve been told four Championship clubs are interested. This will all fall on the fee’s involved plus he is on in the region of €36,000 a week. Big numbers but we know how these things can be negotiated. Do we have the money ? Yes. P&S will need to be positive and only the club really know where we are with that at this moment in time, It won’t be massively healthy. Oli has played fourteen games for Las Palmas this season with no return. He has never been a prolific striker, but could he settle into Luke’s team ?

January Transfer Thread on 12:54 - Jan 21 with 1128 views | OptimisticJack | I really doubt that any off field issues would have been sorted since Saturday. I can only see a defeat tonight following with the same on Saturday against Norwich. Effectively that kills off any play off hopes and pushes us towards a potential relegation fight. This is the crazy Championship for you. Would be best for all if Luke thew a sickie tonight and Saturday, Sheehan to stand in and reassess thereafter if not before. I'm confident we could get a result under Sheehan. If not I can only see 2 defeats coming and our season effectively finished. We cannot afford to delay. I will be there tonight as always in probably our lowest attendance gate for years. I sincerely hope I'm very much wrong with my predictions if LW is in charge tonight. [Post edited 21 Jan 12:59]

January Transfer Thread on 12:33 - Jan 21 by Whiterockin | Assuming we bought the current players to fit our style, do you want to continue with what we have had for the last 3 seasons. Personally I would hope if a new manager comes in he will drastically change our style and if it means changing the type of player we have so be it. |
Yep. It's pretty clear that the Pep-Lite, possession obsessed style we've had for most of the last three or four years is not only ineffective at this level unless you possess a squad of players far superior to almost everyone else in the division, but is so dull to watch that it's actively driving down attendances. More of the same is the last thing we need. Keeping our resources for whoever we employ to change things is the only call that makes sense.
| Pain or damage don't end the world. Or despair, or f*cking beatings. The world ends when you're dead. Until then, you got more punishment in store. Stand it like a man... and give some back. |

Didn't we try that with Duff?

Just because Duff was the wrong appointment it doesn't mean we don't need a change of footballing style.

But what sort of style? Will our supporters be patient? Would our fan base be happy with Pullis type football? I'd like to see the football like Forest and Brighton are playing . The question remains though is there the knowledge at the senior level in the club to find the right person

Hence my thread on Ken Gude. We lack football knowledge at senior level at the club, American sports experience doesn't transfer to British football.

No I don't want to see Pullis football but neither do I want to see slow tedious stuff either. There's a balance somewhere between the 2 extremes. We need far more pace & flair than we currently have. The key is clearly far better recruitment. Your last paragraph asks the question & I think most of us think that unfortunately the answer is no. I do think the style needs changing, but not drastically. We are always going to be a passing style possession based type of vibe. Just need a manager with a few more ideas. Someone Potter-esque, if you will

the question remains though over two weeks on and no incomings. Is this down to cost.....suggestions are we can't agree payment terms to Wycombe, probably as we want to spread the payments over a longer period for P and S purposes whilst perhaps Wycombe want cash up front? Given WestBromgate has there been a hold put on spend to use the funds to pay off Williams or do the board feel he shouldn't be given players as he may well soon be toast? Given so much positive chatter pre window what is happening? Does anyone have a scoobie?
