Very bad start for Russ. Update sacked ** on 20:04 - Dec 16 by swancity | A former manager Russell Martin gets sacked. That’s football and it happens. He’s handled the pressure quite well and of course we all know that big bucks will considerably soften the blow. But some of the childish jealous petty remarks on here are beyond belief. Even comments that bring his partner into it. Remarks about her appearance as well. How incredibly sad and shallow some people are. Get a grip chaps. Football manager loses job. It happens. Why the hatred? |
Fans insulting others gets me going

Very bad start for Russ. on 19:55 - Dec 15 by Andyconky | This would be us if ever promoted. Hopefully with this AND Man City result it will go some way to ending this style of football that is stinking out the game |
Nothing wrong with the style of football. You just need to have players with the skill set and confidence to play it for the division you are playing in. Like any system. With us it was hit and miss. Southampton in the championship had better players than most opponents so were a hit. In the Premier League their defenders get punished for mistakes they could often get away with in the championship. The players capable of playing the way Russ wants to play in the Premier League are probably out of Southampton's budget at the moment. They needed to survive this season any way they could to build that type of squad. As for Man City, no pace in central midfield ; easy to counter attack because of that and no Rodri to cover the cracks. As the cracks are visible to opponents players have lost confidence. Possession with a purpose to probe has become possession for possessions sake and ""without confidence players make poor decisions under pressure, especially pressure of their own making. Poor recruitment has put them in this position. Let Palmer go when he should have been developed as the De Bruyne replacement, bought Phillips as a back up for Rodri and when he didn't work out brought back Gundogan whose legs are gone. Walker is being exposed in ways he hasn't been previously. No real option to Harland after selling Alvarez etc. Potentially a couple of signings can restore solidity and regain confidence. Confidence is a big part of successful teams, I don't think we have it either.

Wow this paragraph below copied grom you sounds so familiar "As for Man City, no pace in central midfield ; easy to counter attack because of that and no Rodri to cover the cracks. As the cracks are visible to opponents players have lost confidence. Possession with a purpose to probe has become possession for possessions sake and ""without confidence players make poor decisions under pressure, especially pressure of their own making." Some times teams run their course players get older some move or on even teams work put how to counter styles of football and adapt. You have to play to the strengths of your players I think our younger players are gaining experience and with a couple of additions the strength of the squad is and will improve.

Yiu get players and deploy them to the best of their ability In football terms ,don’t expect Ben Cabango to stride Beckenbauer style out of our defence ( having been given the ball by Grimsy) and make detailed inch perfect forward passes . It’s like expecting Tymon to tackle a winger or kick with his right foot in anger I can’t believe what I read sometimes Fans want wins, glory ,hope. They don’t want endless sideways passing to nowhere of importance and to have 60% possession of a game only to lose the game . Points get a team up to the glory hole and nothing beats a winning team as fans go home happy and kids boast about the success of their team in the schoolyards and playing fields . They nag their parents to get them to games . Simple

Every team wants to win and most have bigger budgets than us. Do you honestly think we’d romp the league playing kick and rush?

You assume ,yet again. Answer,no I don’t Again, I think we can play and be effective. We have scored some beauts then folded . This is our problem . This happens when we "……….lets say,…..dwell on the ball. Now,this is what commentators and pundits of other clubs see. Fact . We can and should stop this madness That’s my opinion. Yiu don’t like it ,that’s fine by me ,but assume nothing about me as you will be wrong ,I assure you of that . Thousands have walked away . This is because they have become rather miffed about the way we play, the way we revert to type ,the type we were cursed with under a former coach . This saw decent lads being urged to play in positions they were not comfortable in and in a style they felt uneasy in. UNEASY . See? You have hammered Vipotnik, yet he has a scored goals and different ones . He can play but he needs a decent service not hit and hope crosses to nowhere . Finally, and to end this,no I have not faith in Williams to lead us forward . If he does then great Think, that’s it so enjoy the morning, and every day you are above ground

I dont know why you pull this ‘assume nothing about me’ gibberish so often. I don’t have a clue what you’re like off this website and I don’t care. I’m just responding to your post which smacks of entitlement and delusion. We’re not going to get everything right all the time. That goes for the manager and the players. Budget wise, we’re very much lower end championship. Whether you like it or not, mid table is punching above our weight. Re. Vipotnik- he was much better on Saturday, but is nowhere near good enough yet. Possibly it’s escaped you that we manage to create chances for Cullen and Bianchini and Peart-Harris. Most have realised and have started to question why that is.

You really don’t like it when people stand up for themselves My comments are pertinent because you make assumptions. Thanks but we are done

Grow up. I’m challenging your football opinions. You brought the ‘you won’t like me when I’m angry’ nonsense into the discussion. You take it down this tiresome route because you’re incapable of responding properly when someone disagrees with you.

Very bad start for Russ. on 22:09 - Dec 16 by QJumpingJack | Keith's article explained what happened. And most of his remember RMs press conference in early February where he could not hide his disgust at another poor transfer window. It is on YouTube. |
No teams that window did much one incomer at most for the majority of teams. Swansea got better later in the season. There was nothing special about that window.

Taken from the article. According to sources close to some players, speaking anonymously to protect relationships, Martin is a likeable character, willing to put an arm around their shoulder, and he would make an effort to get to know them on a more personal level. He would often shield them from criticism when it came to him having to explain their basic errors on the pitch. Jamie Paterson anyone ?

Stu i imagine lost a bit of love for Swansea after the fan owned club's group imploded after embarking on an over ambitious legal case after six long years. It would have been great if they had given those "greedy hedge funders" a black eye and taken control. They could then have a fan owned club "derby" against Exeter City. And other games against Forest Green. In the 'Jekinista era' allegedly one Swansea shareholder (possible after too much hospitality) called the Man Utd manager something rude and then see his side beat them at the Liberty. A bit unfortunate but funny none the less. In 'fansworld' the the Swans directors and fans would be honoured to get Man Utd in the FA cup fawn over the big shots and ask for autographs and a small charitable cash donation. Long live the sell outs. [Post edited 20 Dec 17:55]

Minor edits made. You can research it yourself. The owner denying he cursed at the Man Utd manager. Memory plays tricks. I do not need to name names and was used to point out the "sellouts" were great for Swansea and feisty.
