It's the Union Jack, in recognition of Hawaiis historical relationship with The Royal Navy and the UK and has been its flag since the early 1800s, when Hawaii was an independent nation. Not many people outside of the US know that.

Not many people inside the US probably know it either! Talking of flags, Cyprus is the only country flag that incorporates an image of the country. [Post edited 4 Sep 14:43]

Another Michael Caine Moment on 15:35 - Sep 4 with 1606 views | fraserc | The words for animals like cow, pig, deer, etc. are from the Old English, whilst the words for the meat like bacon, ham, and venison are from the French. This is due to the influence of the Normans after 1066. The French nobility introduced the words for the meat, but the English farmers maintained their language for the animals. Possibly a lot of people know that.

I heard it was from the agnostic, dyslexic, insomniac who used to lie awake at night wondering if there really is a dog.

I hate to be a pedant, again, but this is absolute nonsense! Cnt is an ancient word whose meaning has changed as little as its sound. Cnt derives from the old English c*nte, and that from the proto-Germanic word k*nto (same meaning), and that probably deriving from the proto-Indo-European root gʷḗn, meaning, essentially, female. Unsurprisingly, it is a truly ancient word. PS - Shakespeare was very found of the word cnt, and from at least the 12th century onwards, Gropecnt Lane was a fairly common name for streets where ladies of the night (or day, I guess) were to be found. Edit: Jeez, I've just re-read this. Whatta know-all. It was actually quite a good joke. Sorry about that. [Post edited 4 Sep 21:36]
