What makes you happy. ? 19:30 - Nov 13 with 5093 views | Sirjohnalot | World can be so dark at times, tough times, winter coming etc. So I thought I’d ask, have a think, what makes you happy ? My wife, my dog, like my job, live in a pretty area, and I’m in position where I can look after my parents, mother in law and mates financially if they need it. Good enough Let's expand it a bit, to include, what has made you laugh or smile today, no matter how daft

What makes you happy. ? on 10:22 - Nov 16 with 614 views | Superjan | At this moment in time , having had a busy start to the day , a cup of coffee and a piece of toast is making me really happy . As I get older its about what makes me happy in the moment , a simple pleasure . More generally spending time with family and friends makes me really happy and more specifically a good pint of Guiness always makes me very happy .
What makes you happy. ? on 10:22 - Nov 16 with 614 views | trampie | Sounds great Mart "a take what you need (within reason) policy", but not everybody can do your job as in not everybody can be a doctor, society needs bin men, cleaners, shop assistants, carers etc and etc and not all jobs offer the perks that your job does, that is why for a lot of people it's a choice, either maximise their earnings and as a result less family time or more family time and less money. Obviously don't wish to intrude so fee free not to answer, so have you spend a lot of time as in months/years combined in another country without your partner because of your job ?, any children involved ? Perhaps your job suits you but would not suit others. The work/life balance for lots of people tends to be work for most of their working life and then decide if they can cut back work/retire early towards the end of their working life, it's been the reality for many up to this point.

What makes you happy. ? on 11:01 - Nov 16 with 574 views | 1983 | I've done a lot of things in my life, some I have loved and some I'm not so proud of, I've visited a lot of countries over the years and love travelling. But this time of the year there is nothing that makes me more happier than after a sh1t day in work having some nice food and getting on the sofa with the missus watching sh1t TV and having a cwtch with my little dogs [Post edited 16 Nov 2022 13:00]

What makes you happy. ? on 11:08 - Nov 16 with 569 views | Boundy | Its great to see so many differing views on happiness and how its obtained , some value time spent with family and friends over time spending .To me Its often the simplest things which give me the most pleasure and has nothing to do with job , career or how big my bank balance is .

I actually agree with most of that. Refuse people stop us from having to deposit our garbage somewhere . Without them ,we have chaos. Many see a doctor infrequently and they re lucky The absence of refuse collectors is profound

What makes you happy. ? on 09:37 - Nov 16 by mart66 | Not about thinking Jon, just about reading what is clearly written. You are letting your biases cloud your commentary and the forum is suffering as a result, as has been pointed out by others recently. You can’t comment on your superior finances, excellent living conditions and job then criticise someone for highlighting similar things after opening the floor for people to discuss what makes THEM happy. It’s ludicrous behaviour. I hope you also have a good day. |
How to spoil a decent thread ................... Any chance the mods can delete all these argumentative comments (including this one), the majority I am sure will be happy .

It was your intentionally confrontational comment that sparked it though Jon. Be honest, what did you expect the result would be? As the poster above said, just delete the comments back to (and including) your initial one where you oddly accused me of bragging for simply answering a question. That will take the arguments out with a couple of clicks of a mouse, it’s the literal reason you are a moderator, to do things like that. While it remains there, people will continue to rumble it on like what happened above. We have both been on these forums long enough to know how they work. Allow everyone a view and there will be no arguments, discussion maybe, but not arguments. [Post edited 16 Nov 2022 13:13]

Oh right. So from the man that posted the " Jekyll & Hyde " on a thread. Hypocrite comes to mind. Obviously working hard considering all the time you have spent on this thread. Perhaps combining it with a holiday in the South of France driving a fast car around ?

Love this answer! Also I'm with earlier posts on watching children's/granchildren's sport. Nothing better for me than than watching grassroots football on the weekends.
