Some pretty dire comments thrown at Mick Beale by this forum !!! 18:50 - Oct 20 with 6680 viewsnumptydumpty

We are all QPR supporters on this forum, I hope !!

But seriously some of the nasty slurs thrown Beale's way by many on here was nothing short of disgraceful.

Many will say I am entitled to my opinion but some people really need take a look at themselves.

Mick Beale has in his short tenure exceeded all expectations by a long long way.

We had the makings of a decent squad and almost all of his transfers and loan deals , given the money outplayed, the potential sell on fees, his excellent use of the new five substitute rule, and the emphasis on entertainment and allied with all that, despite being one of the clubs having one of the smaller budgets in the league, that is nothing short of OUTSTANDING that currently at times playing EXHILARATING football, we are TOP !!

Even disappointed to see posters on here such as BrianMccarthy that I personally have respected, even such posters as Brian, incredibly critical of Beale and even when he has said he staying many have said he simply should not have spoken to Wolves.

His interviews last night he was naturally uncomfortable.

He knows he has great potential and for me, himself giving the DECENCY to speak to Wolves, shows class. Why ?? He more than likely had zero intention of joining them but him not speaking to Wolves, he had to do this, even for his own future career away from us as the football industry and opportunities are limited and personally I feel he has a BIG career ahead.

All his interviews show class, well thought out and decency throughout.

Its a massive plus for Beale to already have interest from the Premier league.

All his career he has progressed magnificently. His knowledge of what maybe possible for him at some point, I got no issues him chatting to more successful clubs than ourselves, understandable.

And despite this massive issue, he remained totally focused on the job in hand. Last nights performance, particularly the first half was outstanding and done without our star player as well.

And yet this forum was full of vitriol and venom both Beales way and also Les and Lee by some.

Just recalling how much vitriol Les got when he was shortlisted and approached to work for the FA. He spoke to them also and some said like with Mick's dialogue with Wolves, it left a nasty taste in their mouth.

As Beale said the interest in himself, our players, and members of our hierarchy is evidence we are completely doing things totally in the correct way.

Like it or not, this club is our hobby, but this game is other peoples livelihoods and felt great majority on here and am sure on all forms of social media behaviour was incredibly poor and disrespectful.

People calling out Beale for disrespecting the fanbase here by chatting to Wolves.

Think we all know, Mick is the better man.

Am delighted he is here and its like with Eze, in future years we will be grateful Mick chose our club for his first management role.

Destined for big things is Mick.

Total respect to all involved is the way.

What I was saying is exactly summed up with what you just said here.

You effectively just said you don't trust him.

My point being what he has achieved until now has been incredible.

The performance last night 100 percent down to Beale but just saying like others all that totally overlooked by many because of a few misplaced words in one interview!!!

Why would I have trusted him ? I don't trust the business side of football that's for sure. Do you?
He's been in the job 5 minutes, I don't know him. You build trust in someone. This episode has taught everyone you can trust Beale . He is a man of his word. More power to him. He didn't ask for wolves to come in for him , this whole thing wasn't his fault. I just think he could of said things differently. I mean he didn't say no did he? And he went on to say he wants interest from the prem because that shows we're doing good things. He also said he is ambitious and wants to manage in the Premier league. Maybe he was being diplomatic but everyone to a man didn't know wtf he was doing and this confusion caused high emotions to spill out.He didn't rule himself out early doors did he?. But it's done now ,everyone can put their pitchforks down and their false pragmatism away and we can all get on with the season.
Just for clarity, I love Beale, he's been excellent and QPR fans deserve a really good manager and a good season. Don't forget most of us didn't want Warburton sacked either,so to potentially lose Beale like this would have been a bitter pill to swallow, just when things were looking good.
I really don't get you questioning the fans response to this. There was a mix of opinions and emotions. It's done and dusted so don't get why you'd drag it out to dig out the fans.

Numpty, you make some very interesting and valid points about Beale, the excellent work he's done to date, and the professional manner in which he conducted himself during an undoubtedly difficult week. It's a shame you then take the gloss off by headlining the criticism. Folk are entitled to their opinions, it's what makes this forum interesting.

However differently we may feel about how events unravelled, I think we can all agree that no one wanted Mick to leave, and we're all delighted that he's stayed. Let's celebrate this, enjoy being top of the league, and get behind the boys.

Yes I trust him.

Wasn't digging out fans. Just felt the forum let itself down.

People can't see that, then thats up to them.

Wasn't taking the gloss off.

Peoples criticisms of his lack of loyalty I found weird and unsavoury.

I have been shocked by the negativity towards Beale on here too. Christ, we are top of the League, winning and playing attractive football and without Willock. Beale is clearly doing a very good job for us so far, contueing from the great base he got from Warburton, and he's doing so well and enjoying it so much he is wanted by 1 PL Club at least, and turns them down with what was doubtless a very lucrative offer to continue with our Rangers. Absolutely fantastic. Some seem upset because they think he talked to Wolves. Most media sources and Beale himself say he did not.. No official approach was made by Wolves until after the Cardiff game. Any previous substantive conversations seem unlikely considering the time frame. So what anyway. It's his life and career on the line and he chose to stay with us. Brilliant, and what a boost for our players and support.

'Most media sources and Beale himself say he did not.. No official approach was made by Wolves until after the Cardiff game. Any previous substantive conversations seem unlikely considering the time frame'

I personally think this is the crux of the matter. Beale himself was being careful with his words, perhaps because Wolves had tapped up his agent to get a view on whether he was interested and maybe or maybe not the agent says, we can't talk until you ask the club for permission to speak to him. Therefore Beale was using the phrase "and I have had no DIRECT contact from Wolves". Sitting pretty in the top 6, playing attractive football and on a run of 2 defeats in 10 games prior to Cardiff, Beale and his agent may well have been using the interest in him as a reminder to the QPR hierarchy that he was hot property, hence Beale also said that he had some very open and honest conversations with Les and the owners, perhaps leading to an opportunity for them to say ok, we will improve your contract already in recognition of your performance thus far - perhaps not. Either way it seems that Beale then stopped short of actually speaking to Wolves.

Like many on here, had I posted much on this topic earlier in the week I would have had some very strong words regarding what I WOULD have thought of Beale in the event he had taken the job, there is no harm expressing an opinion on what your reaction would be IF circumstances lead to him leaving this "project" so early on.

Poll: With no leg room, knees killing me, do I just go now or stay for the 2nd half o?

Some reports, which we now assume were bullsh*t said that he was thought to be keen on the move, and that Wolves hoped to have him in place by the weekend. Now we should obviously be a bit more sceptical of the media, but you can’t blame supporters for being a bit jittery. He acknowledged himself that the wording he used, while well intentioned, probably fed the rumour and paranoia.

I think it's rather naive of anybody to think that a Premier League club decided they wanted a Championship manager 14 games into his career entirely of their own volition (i.e. that his name wasn't being touted around), or that nobody with any connection with Wolves spoke to anybody with any connection to Beale about whether it was potentially a goer, potential terms, money to spend etc until after the poxy "official approach" was made (Beale himself said "no direct contact" which is pretty bloody transparent, and about having a "really honest conversation with les", well what's there to have a conversation about if nobody at Wolves has been in touch?)

Wolves decide all by themselves that Beale, an enormous departure from anything they've appointed before, is their man, and then very politely wait until after we've played Cardiff to make any contact at all, at which point Beale turns it down without even speaking to them. I'm delighted he's stayed, I think we've got half a bloody chance this season now, but come on chaps, that's just not how this sport, or the world in general, works.

It was QPR media as well. Interviews on the offish and the other one on west London sports or whatever its called. On both occasions Beale didn't really give a straight answer.
It was also all over sky sports news if course. I had blokes at work taking the piss saying the gaffer had gone.
It was a pain in the arse. I've got no issue with fans getting pissed off about the whole thing. Don't know why posters feel so shocked and outraged by some of the reactions.

Exactly. MB would have been foolish to not consider it, therefore there must have been some sounding out, if only by intermediaries.

He made the right decision in the end and that’s all that matters (for the time being anyway.)

Surely there has to be some middle ground between the ‘(IF) dire comments’ and the deification now that he is staying.

Yeh, exactly.

I don't think he's handled it particularly well this week TBH. That Sky interview in the week, where he was suddenly washing his hands of it and chucking it back upstairs like "it's all up to Les" was poor. But, like he says, it's his first job and he's learning as he goes. I doubt he'd say the same things again next time.

And we've had a result out of it. We keep a very good manager who seems to be going places with this team, and he's got a great thing going with players who already seem to be right with him because he can give it the big "I committed to stay here rather than take the Prem move" when he's asking them to go through the wall, or sign a new contract, or show faith or whatever.

But I'm not gonna kiss his arse after that interview yesterday I'm afraid, any more than I or anybody else should have been abusing him when it looked like he was off.

Assuming you're right about how the situation was handled, if that's Beale's first 'mistake' in 5 months then I'll take it.

If we, fans who have been following the club for many years, can't handle a bit of speculation well, then we have little right to expect a rookie manager 16 matches into his first meaningful role to handle it with aplomb. He's learning, just as we're learning to appreciate nice things.

If Beale had decided to leave, then I would've have been critical. He didn't, so I'm not, and that's the end of it for me. Let's ride the crest of his decision to stay rather than over analyse the journey. Lord knows we have enough problems to resolve without trying to create more.

As my late mum used to say, "Pick your battles, son".

And this is an important consideration. Even if Beale personally wasn't interested in taking the Wolves job, the speculation presented his agent with an opportunity to improve his QPR contract. In this instance, Beale would be advised to choose his words carefully whilst his agent seeks improved terms from the board.

Even if you believe there wasn't a discussion between various reps before (and there definitely was, I'm sorry there just was), what did they want to talk to him about on Thursday? The state of the rail network?

There's no evidence at all he was offered it, which is why he told a fan in the Paddock on Wednesday night there'd been no official approach. He was on a shortlist at most, but wasn't even interviewed. We move on - for now.

Surely the agent? I have a poor view of agents. Personally I think they act in their own interests. It must always suit them for the player/manager to move on as it consistently increases their income with signing on fees and higher wages. They are not concerned with job satisfaction, integrity, building a career in the slightest.

If you were a sports' journalist, surely the first people you'd cultivate would be the agents. I'm sure they'd be happy to pass on rumour and conjecture as it helps push up wages, encourages clubs to tap up players and managers etc. In a very different field another type of agent I've got more experience with, estate agents, are the most terrible gossips, at least the ones I've come across. Despite supposedly working for their clients they'll tell you all sorts of gossip about how much all their clients are getting for their house and sometimes why (divorce/probate etc).
