Spot on.

I think we all know he had a frustrating afternoon where things didn't quite come off....I'm sure he'll get the normal 'held onto it too long' digs (several times yesterday this was due to lack of options tbf)...but I was glad to hear Beale say that he kept him on because he recognises that potential to produce a bit of game-changing magic.

We hardly ever score from free kicks, so this was very timely.

Think that so much falls on his shoulders when Willock isn't available, must be incredibly difficult.

When they both play together it is one of the strongest attacks in the league (Prem quality in places) but if one isn't playing it puts so much pressure on the other as they are the creative pace and spark at the heart of how we play. Reflects so well on Chair that he pushed through a difficult game yesterday to pull things out of the bag for us.

Never knowingly understood

Lack of options is just not true as Roberts (and even Dozzell) were able to find options for quick early balls that opened up Sunderland's defence,

Up to the 85th minute was Chair's worst performance I have seen for us and the first time I have heard the crowd show their frustration with him continually holding the ball too long. I think this is an inherent flaw in his game but also exacerbated by our 4-3-3 formation which I think doesn't suit some of our players, particularly Chair.

First time ever I saw him so frustrated he was'nt giving his usual 100% and he showed this frustration just before his superb free-kick by almost getting a Red-Card for getting involved in something he didn't need to.

Whether this re-focussed him, he then immediately produced an absolutely superb free-kick and his reaction afterwards showed how pumped he was, then producing a very good cross into the danger error for Seny to score.

Delighted for Chair and surprised to hear Beale say that why he keeps him on, as we all knew this, but let's be honest and not pretend the reason he will never be a plus £5m footballer is like Luke Freeman, he holds onto the ball too long.

If he didn't, he wouldn't be with us, so happy days.

Slightly more often than our GK scoring.

Please note I said several times, not every time.

I really don't want to dig out Niko, but loads of times in the second half, when Chair was playing further forward, he looked for that overlapping run that Wallace made so often last year, only to find Niko was ambling along ten yards behind him. He had no option but to stop and cut inside - the attack loses momentum, Chair gets pelters, but the pass he wanted to make wasn't there.

The link up with Roberts for that chance early in the second half - that'x what he needs, players on his wavelength.

You are missing his will to win which gives him an edge.I like that.He has got fight
I don't believe your evaluation of him -he is worth way more than 5m and his performance was pretty good
He just needs to receive the ball in the right areas and use his attributes of a tight turning circle and have team mates who give him options- seen immediately with Tyler Roberts for example
I think it is his size that puts premiership teams off as they can pick the best available in the world and a simple question mark will put off some.

That is where QPR and Beale and fellow coaches and Ilias himself can prove opinions wrong.

I think we agree last year's formation with wing-backs suited Chair better as an easy out-ball to Wallace was an option,

I think we'll disagree with whether the root cause of the problem is with Chair (like I think) or the ability-level of his team-mates (like you think)

I get we were trying to win the game and this point is harsh but when we win back possession before Sinclair's run, Chair received the ball, head-down, in a dangerous area and whereas a head-up player (Willock) will play the easy 1 2 off Roberts, Chair doesn't see him, tries to beat his man and loses possession, fortunately to Dozzell who we all know can pick a pass when given the time he likes, harsh point but Chair's Achilles isn't his passing, it's his head-down and looking at his feet too much, probably why he's also such a good ball striker.

Agree about his will to win, but really believe his price cap is £5m unless he can be coached to get his head-up, a footballer of his ability should not need to look at his feet to take control of a pass, look at Willock when he receives the ball, his head is up and he can run with the ball with his head-up (like Eze did) whereas Chair runs too often head-down.

Still, we win both ways, as successive coaches hav'nt fixed this so he'll stay with us for the next number of years and be a good championship player OR the coaches fix it and we sell him as a £8-10m player he really can be.

When you look at the goals scored following set pieces maybe it has been a good idea to have a specialist coach.

Much as I loved Barbet; he’s no longer clogging up our free kick options.

Not sure anybody else noticed Chair combing/flattening the turf with his hand before the free kick to make sure everything was exactly how wanted it to the millimetre. Perfectionist with a perfect result.

Brilliant few minutes from him but I fear he will get punished for that throat grab. The commentator on the highlight package on the official page highlighted it a few times and it looks bad I think.
As much as i despise a tackle from behind Roberts reacted poorly and was not booked either ? .
But we showed amazing heart to pull that point out its going to do wonders for us I think

Was funny though when the Sunderland player kept saying "what are you gonna do?" to Ilias. Well Mr Sunderland player, that was your answer.

Mmm? I saw Chair moving forward with the ball with Nico in some space further forward near the touchline- overlapping- a couple of times at least, Chair ignored him and played inside.

Thing is, if Chair had defended better and played more with his head up and not held on to the ball for too long so many times we would have been 2-0 up, not down, and we wouldn't have needed him to score that free kick and supply the cross for the equaliser.

Poll: QPR to finish 7th or Brentford to drop out of the top 6?

Would add to this that his reaction at the final whistle was also great, you can see how much the comeback meant to him, including his role in the goals

The correct answer to that is "make you smell my fingers after I've had them in your wife's *lady garden*" In my experience, not many have the self restraint to resist that particular goad. With cameras on you all the time, you need a good verbal volley for those situations.

The grass is always greener.

Freeman was a hard-working creative midfielder and match-winner who's value was limited due to his inability to take just one touch and play an easy first time pass...notice any similarities?
