'call me' goal celebrations on 10:39 - Oct 23 with 1056 views | Badlands | Whatever the reason it appears to have worked. If Piroe is looking to leave after scoring a few goals it may indicate an ego beyond his talent given his previous scoring record. It does look like the Cooprolites are out to find any reason to attack Martin. If there is / was an attitude problem with Piroe and he'd played from the start there is no guarantee he would have scored goals. In fact, given his spells with Rotterdam and PSV his senior goal scoring record was ... poor. That said Obafei's is even weaker.

'call me' goal celebrations on 10:37 - Oct 23 by Dr_Parnassus | ''need to address'', you are amazingly funny fair play to you. 3 foot Carl having a go at me for changing his avatar in 2011, wouldn't change it for the world. A wonderful event, will look forward to it. Worthy or not Worthy, you need to understand I couldn't give a damn what you or your silly mates say about me. Affects me zero. But it certainly shows the floundering nature of your arguments, and I love it. I was correct about Cabango wasn't I? I said it seems it must be something other than football keeping him out of the side considering his performances and our team performances when he plays. A week later he is fined by the club for his conduct and called out for his lack of professionalism. Sorry little Riscs, you aren't getting out of this one. Own it. |
Cabango did make a mistake yes, not denying that, but you came out with claims against him week before the event due to him not starting Cardiff game which you were sure he would. We all know there were issues with Piroe and Martin which have since been ironed out, is it behind the realms of possibility there could have been substance to the rumours? It does add up.

We don't know what has worked or what hasn't worked. We didn't get a chance to se what he could do prior. As I said on another thread, we needed him before that. We picked up 1 point in 9 and looked toothless. Where is the attack on Martin? I am not seeing it. Just talking about what happened. [Post edited 23 Oct 2021 10:41]

I didn't claim anything about him. I said maybe it is non footballing reasons keeping him out of the side, as when he plays he is excellent. I didn't claim anything. The week later he was told how unprofessional he was by the manager. It would be ludicrous to even attempt to say I was wrong, but I am not shocked that you tried. An amazing coincidence eh? It is not beyond the realms of possibility that he smashed Martins car with a football either. But speculating an actual event would be pretty silly.

'call me' goal celebrations on 09:21 - Oct 23 by Dr_Parnassus | We have no idea what happened, it is unlikely we will ever know despite what little soundbites they choose to give us. It was a big reaction though, whatever it was. I am not in the camp of giving praise without context, impossible to tell if it was good management or bad management. From where I am, we could have done with him against Blackburn, Stoke and Sheff Utd. We were pretty toothless and ended up with 1 point from 9. The game he finally starts, he scores and we win the game. I would have preferred him to be playing prior to that. |
I’ll stick with our Russ cheers fella. He’s got the best out of him now however he did it, carry on the way he’s playing he can have the number 9 shirt next season I’m supportive of our manager & players 👠

It isn't a question of sticking with him, he's ''our Joel'' too. It is just a situation that happened, doesn't appear to be great on the surface, thankfully all seems well now. But we cannot take sides until we know what happened. Although judging from your posting history, I wouldn't exactly describe you as supportive of our players. After 20 secs of curiosity, I saw:- Fabianski ''Having a mare'' Gylfi ''Looking awful today.'' Tom Carroll ''Deserves a thread of his own What a utter crap footballer'' [Post edited 23 Oct 2021 12:00]

I think Russ said as much as he can, same with Paterson and more than likely a few others not mentioned. Attitude and behaviour, storm in a tea cup.

Hell of a reaction after only a few days together. I am sure we aren't being told the full picture, these things tend to stay in house.

I see it as a complete change of dimension for the players, the manager has mentioned ego’s and dropping that attitude, his learning cycle in team talks is something we may be able reveal in the coming weeks, that would disorientate most people in a change process. Hopefully we can get some access in to that soon. Experiential learning is a difficult thing for a lot of people, the reaction to it can be quite strange and alarming. Cooper did a very similar thing, we reported on that some time ago, but it was revealing. Similar situations opened up up with certain players back then as well, being left out or seemingly dropped without what supporters felt was without good reason. Managers manage, and Russell as well as Cooper come from the same learning process of reflection and development. I see it as a very positive thing.

Whatever happened with certain players is pure speculation by some. Ultimately the outcome has been brilliant, credit must be given to the manager and players.

PSV are known for their passing game, Ajax, Feyenoord and PSV are the three clubs brought up on it and he came through their youth system. The focus of the youth system on passing and possession is well documented. https://pdfcoffee.com/psvacademysessions-pdf-free.html I find it difficult to accept Joel was struggling to understand a basic possession game, he has been subject to it all his footballing life. The way he is playing now is certainly a positive thing, but it could have gone one of two ways. I wouldn't like scenarios like that to rear their head very often, best avoided if at all possible.

Well the outcome is a good player playing well when selected. Most good players play well when selected. To say he is playing well because he was left out I find hard to believe, he is playing well because he is clearly a class footballer. One I wish we had when we picked up 1 point from 9 when he was left out.

Who is to say if picked at the time things would have turned out the same. Agreed he is quality and adapted his game to play as Martin wants. Hopefully some of the other players who have had a spell on the sidelines will come back in better for it.

Nothing, but nothing is to say he is playing well because he was left out either. It is far more likely that he is playing well because he is a good footballer.

Sometimes you just have to back the managers judgment and give him credit when things work out well. Everything else is just speculation and opinion and there is nothing wrong with different opinions, its what keeps message boards vibrant.

Well if we had won those 3 games then I would agree. However getting 1 point from 9 after leaving out the best striker we have had in a long time I find it hard to praise. But it is also hard to criticise, depending on what exactly went on. It's important not to fall into the trap of blindly accepting everything as a good decision. Which seems to be the temptation at the moment. Russell is an inexperienced manager, it would be healthy to analyse things as they appear not as we would prefer them to be. In short, clearly an issue, no idea of it was handled well or not although we clearly needed him when he was left out. Great to see him now back in the side and playing well, issue over.

With all due respect, we do know what he could do 'prior' because he his record before coming to us speak for itself.

That was in a different league for a different team. If anyone genuinely thinks he is as good as he is because he was left out of the team then they are barking.

100% Spot on. Some love to hark back to things that were somin and nothing, its the here and now that matters and the future, like gossiping cockle women.

It wasn’t nothing though was it. He left our best striker out for 3 games that we got 1 point out of. Why that was we will never be sure. But what can be sure of, is that it wasn’t “nothing”.
