Stockport C. vs Chesterfield 20:50 - Nov 4 with 30210 views | D_Dale | At half-time in tonight's replay that will decide Dale's FA Cup opponents, Stockport lead 2-0. A pity in a way as Dale would probably have stood a better chance of beating Chesterfield. Still, whichever side it is, the winners will face a big challenge to prepare for Saturday.
Stockport C. vs Chesterfield on 20:14 - Nov 7 with 2687 views | 49thseason | OK I have calmed down a bit now. We lost a cup tie, more to the point, nobody seemed to get injured. Stockport may well get a round 3 draw at Old Trafford or Anfield, but what's the point? There is no real money involved. We have to conserve what can be conserved this season, the squad is paper thin and cheap as chips, staying in L1 is the only footballing consideration. Staying solvent is the overriding consideration, not getting giddy about a possible 3rd round at Anfield with no crowd and no cash to speak of. Good luck to Stockport they have a backer with deep pockets, I look forward to playing them in L1 in 2 or 3 years time. Meanwhile the steady collection of a point here and 3 points there must be our focus.

Stockport C. vs Chesterfield on 20:07 - Nov 7 by TVOS1907 | That bloke's 4000 fans in Wetherspoons comment was interesting because since we started recording such figures, the most they have ever brought to Spotland is 1471. |
I didn’t think they ever brought a lot to us. Only Oldham and Bradford of our local MASSIVE sides really regularly brought big numbers of 2k+ each time they played us.

Stockport C. vs Chesterfield on 18:28 - Nov 7 by boromat | On the prize money topic yes it would have been a nice bonus but we can't rely on it and the old saying of being able to concentrate on the league rings true. Staying in League One is worth much more to us than a little FA Cup run. |
To add my thoughts... yes prize money is good to add to the dwindling coffers... See again no half time draw result on twitter.... maybe morning which defeats the point of a half time draw... No injuries & yes we lost.. is it the end of the world... no... have I had severe txt grief yes.. take my hat off etc (fook off 😂) What’s more important.. more cup games & chance of injuries as the season progresses.... Let’s stay safe, stay up... that’s all I care about 💙

The galling thing is that the team selected today forms the nucleus of the team we expect to secure the retention of league 1 status. I accept cup upsets happen, but we were utterly inept and it does not bode well. [Post edited 7 Nov 2020 21:15]

Actually thinking about this I recall one of their fans telling me they never saw Dale as a rival because we never brought a crowd to them. Maybe TVOS can comment on the numbers we did take? No doubt less than theirs to us but surely not equivalent to a Tuesday in Torquay. The same fan said he saw Bradford as more of a rival because they took more fans to Stockport. Good job they can likely renew their friendship next season eh.

We only started recording away followings in 1997/98, so there's only three seasons' worth of league meetings since then. 2005/06 At Spotland: 1046 County fans At EP: 660 Dale fans (Tuesday night) 2006/07 At Spotland: 1471 County fans At EP: 1074 Dale fans (7-2 win) 2007/08 At Spotland: 852 County fans (Tuesday night) At EP: 734 Dale fans (Tuesday night) [Post edited 7 Nov 2020 20:54]

It was announced in commentary though, but you're right, it should also be on Twitter. Good to see Roger's lad winning a prize.

Stockport C. vs Chesterfield on 19:57 - Nov 7 by EllDale | We’ve had some decent cup runs in recent years but only after sneaking through the earlier rounds in some cases. We could so easy have been embarrassed by Wrexham and Boston last year and only just survived when playing the likes of Gateshead, Aldershot and Maidstone in previous seasons. Remember Callum Camps’ last minute equaliser in Kent? Our luck ran out today. Quite frankly, as soon as their second goal went in I feared the worst. I just don’t think we have the creativity to score two goals in a game, let alone a third with the team we fielded today. Good luck to County in the next round and I hope we play them in the league soon. We need those 4000 away fans! |
We’ve scored 2 goals in a game 3 times in the past month, so that’s a little harsh.

Shite followings all round. AFC Bury would never be seen with that level of massiveness.

Let's face it, the only reason (if circumstances were normal) that County might've had a BIG following at the COA today is because their fans would be ever so grateful for the opportunity of playing against a League One side after being in the wasteland

With respect, I think the difference is today we were the favourites. In the majority of league games we’re the underdogs. Stockport started off like a runaway train today but from about 30 minutes onwards they put 10 men behind the ball and literally just defended. In the league teams will attack us more aggressively, meaning more openings at the back. I can’t honestly remember a league game where we’ve had to actually break down a team like we had to against Stockport today. We didn’t lose today because of poor defending or lack of the ball, it was simply because we couldn’t break them down. I’m not worried.

What was particularly annoying though was the inability on many occasions to play a simple ball to feet. Instead, we resorted to long-ball tactics which simply played into their hands. The one time Morley had the chance to make a decent ball into the box he almost set up Matty Lund, but for far far far far far far too long (and in every game) he's been pinned back in a defensive role. It's just bollox, and i'm tired of watching talent going to waste Edit: and if you look at the pace with which County moved the ball early on, that's the way it should be done at our level and they put us to shame. Our passing was slow, predictable, inaccurate and lacking in passion or energy [Post edited 7 Nov 2020 21:44]

But that's what worries me. We will be sucked into a survival battle and we won't be able to break teams down playing like that.

When do you think we might play the Wimbledon game too? They are out with Covid and could be for up to 14 days or more. Chance that game will be off too. Put the kids out Tuesday. Lets not bother with that cup. We've got the league to focus on after we have had a rest for 3 weeks

Well if the Wimbledon game gets PP, it would probably be the New Year before it can be rearranged, depending on what happens on Tuesday and subsequent ties in that competition. There are quite a lot of free midweeks from January onwards. Regarding Tuesday, we can't just put the kids out due to the rules over so many players having to be regulars or something like that!

6-7 first teamers have to play I think I'd expect Lynch, Tavares, Done, Dooley, Baah to get run outs
Stockport C. vs Chesterfield on 09:15 - Nov 8 with 1716 views | boromat | The rules aren't as strict as you think. Only need four qualifying players. They are in top 10 appearances this season, plays the previous or next game, has forty or more career appearances, is on loan from a category 1 academy. Think this season we'd struggle to break the rules to be honest 😂. Full rules and wording below in case I've translated incorrectly. 7.3 Each EFL Club shall play its Full Available Strength in and during all Matches. Full Available Strength means the EFL Club must include at least four Qualifying Players in the ten outfield Players named in the starting eleven on the Team Sheet. 7.4 Qualifying Player means any Player who: 7.4.1 had started the immediately preceding First Team Fixture (as defined below); 7.4.2 subsequently starts the immediately following First Team Fixture; 7.4.3 is in the list of ten Players at the Club with the highest number of starting appearances in First Team Fixtures in the same Season; 7.4.4 has made forty or more starting appearances in First Team Fixtures or international equivalents (and not limited to the same Club or Season); or 7.4.5 is on standard loan from a Premier League Club or any EFL Club operating a Category One Academy. 7.5 First Team Fixture means the League Competition, Premier League, EFL Cup or FA Challenge Cup (but shall, in the context of Rules 7.4.3 and 7.4.4 only, also include this Competition). 7.6 Any EFL Club failing to meet the requirement to play Full Available Strength will be required to pay a fine of up to £5,000. 7.7 For the Invited Clubs, a registered player is one who would be registered and eligible to participate in a Premier League and/or, subject to Rules 7.9 and 7.10, Premier League 2 match commencing at the same time and on the same date as the Match in accordance with the provisions of the relevant Premier League rules.

Some of them really need to seek help with their extreme mood swings that depend on the result of a game of football. No doubt at all that yesterday wasn’t great but frig me some of them can’t make their mind up about BBM from one game to the next. And don’t get me started on the frankly bizarre post last week that suggested the CEO should let fans in to games then quote the magna fooking carta when the police come calling Lay off the drugs kids.
