Ben Watson being linked on 20:51 - Jul 31 with 3851 views | enfieldargh | I'd be amazed if he signed for us after the abuse he got from 15 pissed off rangers fans in a box at Portman road back in whenever it was

Ben Watson being linked on 07:15 - Aug 1 with 3385 views | SimplyNico | A Forest supporting workmate who works with a few players said that he was exceptional for them. Lives in South London and commuted daily to Nottingham for training by train apparently. I was told he is out of contract and wants to stay down here. He is getting on a bit but has looked after himself. Might be one of those where we squeeze a couple of seasons out of him.

I've always thought that Ball and Cameron are tough enough. They're big, strong , have great attitude and can tackle. Mobility is a problem and maybe why they miss some tackles. I think powder-puff might be harsh there, Hooparoo?

Ben Watson being linked on 09:24 - Aug 1 with 3093 views | BklynRanger | We were after him, to whatever extent, a couple of times before he finally came to us iirc. I remember feeling a bit underwhelmed when he did arrive. Think it was a bit of strange time for him form-wise. Read somewhere here about him getting consecutive sending off which rings a bell. None of which means that much really. Like the sound of him operating as a deep lying ball player. Now I'll have him down as a poor man's Ray Wilkins, so no unfair pressure there at all...

Fair enough, Hoop. Not sure Amos is naturally an enforcer, though. I like him further forward, and I like him more than most do, too, it seems. I'd like him back here next year on a reasonable permanent move or a loan with an agreed future fee (if that negates the January call-back option, if not forget it, then no ice cream just whipped cream but only if it's real, if it's out of a can then nothing).

Lovely image. I needed that on a Saturday morning. By the way - what was the name of our Structures Teacher? Was trying to remember...

That was an odd game. He was being recalled, in order to be loaned out again - to West Brom? He appeared to be terrified of getting injured, and pulled out of a few tackles. Not very professional.

'Fair enough, Hoop. Not sure Amos is naturally an enforcer, though. I like him further forward, and I like him more than most do, too, it seems' I agree with that Brian and wouldn't mind him back next season as I think he could build on his 19/20 experience, putting his serious injury further behind him. As for Watson. If he fits the wage structure then yes. He played a lot of games last season in a better team, based on league position. Having lost Pugh and Rangel we could do with an older experienced head as well. Not quite sure where he fits in with Ball and Cameron but the later misses games anyway and maybe we could get a bit of competition and rotation going as well as an option of the bench for that role.
Ben Watson being linked on 10:20 - Aug 1 with 2864 views | rsonist | Can't call Watson an "enforcer" but he's smart enough to protect the defence better without having to make big tackles.

Agree with all that, if his medicals are ok. 35 is a risk, but if he's a good pro and leader and if his wages are appearance-based and incentive-based then ok. two or three older heads is good, and we've lost some recently.

Ben Watson being linked on 10:33 - Aug 1 with 2813 views | nix | I know I've not been that complimentary of Amos but that's as a loan player because I'd rather have a fully cooked player on loan than improve them for someone else. But I'd be ok with him as a permanent signing for a v low fee and reasonable wages. Watson sounds like the kind of player that might be good for us for a couple of years to give us some bite in midfield.
Ben Watson being linked on 10:35 - Aug 1 with 2800 views | DannytheR | I'd be happy with this. If ever there was a team that could do with a 30-something Ray Wilkins making us tick from the centre circle, it's QPR right now, and Watson feels like the Championship equivalent. (Which Geoff Cameron very much doesn't.) Next season looks like it could go either way, and someone with the sheer knowhow and football brain of Watson might well be the difference. I can see that working with Watson, especially if we can improve the central defence behind them. I think too often we look at players solely as individuals rather than the team as more than the sum of its parts. It's like the Wilkins + Holloway/Barker combination, you need both parts for it to work
Ben Watson being linked on 11:19 - Aug 1 with 2621 views | TacticalR | I saw him play against us at Forest in February. As a player who always played well against us in the past, my impression this time around was that he was not what he once was.
