Fantastic find. Always great to see a full house at Loftus Road especially when it’s the old terraces.

Like Dominic Cummings doing his school work on line I’ve added this game to the big 73/74 thread in case anyone missed it

😎👍🏼

Good spot Cambers. I didn’t realise the Leicester stat. Good old Shilts. Stands resolute for four and half hours against the Rs. Throws one in the fkin net for Poland against England. I guess even in a great season there’s a bogey team or two that either has the rub of the green or works you out. In 2010/11 it was Millwall and Norwich we couldn’t score against. In 73/74 it was Leicester and Ipswich.

Time for some more action,

A short clip and our first (edit: second) sight of Loftus Road. Jesus I miss the place. I went for a run the other day, took a detour and did a lap around. The stadium was quiet but still held the eye like a sleeping beauty, a girlfriend in a coma. She sends her love. 1973 was the first time we beat Arsenal. Stan’s goal. Even an open goal he takes with such aplomb and style. He looks like he going to sky it but no 2-0. Just beautiful.

Another away game. Another Saturday afternoon where Stanley gets kicked up in the air only to pick himself up uncomplaining, dust himself down, and go on to have the last laugh. A full house at a mild and misty Baseball Ground. Derby 4th in the league at the time. Rs mid table but stariting to put a run together. Gerry Francis’s deft strike for the first is world class. Another dodgy penalty goes the other way. Decent defensive cameos from Parkes and Mancini. Venables, a footballing Mike Baldwin, always something to say, once more constantly in the face of the ref, and in this instance the penalty taker.

Yet another away game and a greater football travesty in the seventies you will not find. We visit the league leaders in December who are already soaring away with a 6 point lead at the top of the table (9 points in today’s money). Though they are unbeaten at home we run rings around them. A hard snowy pitch whatever. This is the future of football (QPR) playing the ghost of football’s past (Leeds). The Rs are cruising it 1-0 and score a timely well-worked second just before half time only for the referee, obviously from Heckmondwike, West Yorkshire, and a close relative of Don Revie, to rule it out. Second half workmanlike Leeds claw their way in front. What’s the point of having a sexy orange football to stand out in the snow if the home team are running around camouflaged in all white like a bunch of extras from the heroes of Telemark? Bowles and Francis with a piece of continental brilliance eventually level the score. Leeds will go on to win the league and spend the next forty years telling people they also won the European Cup.

Now up to 14 games found from that great season plus John Noakes climbing one of the Loftus Road floodlight pylons.

Great to see that one. New to me although I was probably at it with my Dad.

Not much segregation, with both goals being celebrated in 'opposite' terraces.

Thanks for that.

I think it was the first game I went to against the scum.

I remember that game well, more for what went on outside before the game and after and some inside, it started my hate toward them, unfair to call them animals they were far worse.

When willl this CV nightmare end

I must have been there, but I can't recall the match at all!

Can someone please explain why our goal was disallowed. Definitely onside & no touch on the goalkeeper when the rebound was poked home.

Perhaps the corner went out & then back into play?

Yes looks good 30,109 in that day . Anyone have any idea of the numbers present from each club ? From the video it looks something like 19000 R's & 11000 Chelsea hopefully someone who was there can provide a more accurate approximation on the numbers .

I would have thought it would have been the other way round.

It definitely was for the FA Cup 6th round game in 1970 even though that was all ticket!

I'm a late comer but went to every Scum home game from the 1-0 in 80-81(Tommy Langley) we had the school end that year, but the only time I think they may have outnumbered us (at loftus Rd) was the 2-2 on 26/12/84....still gutted Jonny Byrne didn't score that goal. Think there was 26.5K that day and maybe 14k CFC at most. In the cup in 86 It was maybe 50:50 or 55:45 Rangers. Don’t get me wrong they used to have great away support but I would say the 86 cup game was the last time they came in huge numbers almost equivalent to our support. For some reason they didn’t bring that many (for them) for the 6-0.

As a fan base we always did ourselves down against that bunch of cnts at least in the early 80’s I guess the press hype Was a factor but it would be interesting to know from those who went in the 70’s and very early 80’s what other grounds/teams were scarier to play . With Chelsea. Ithink it started to change after 85-86 ?

Bunch of scummy racist bullies they bought max 1,000 to the Den in the league cup in 84-85 and from what saw and heard they got absolutely smashed all over the place. Wall fans were setting light to the police horses tails escorting their chaps to the ground just to get them...it actually did happen, madness looking back :-( :-( 🙄Sorry edited as I wasn’t clear it was meant to be sarcastic as I’m pretty certain it didn’t happen but some papers reported it....which if anyone remembers those days the papers used to demonise football fans so would sensationalise everything. To be fair It was a crazy walk to the ground I think we got to the station just before a big load of Chelsea arrived and there were police horses everywhere and millwall fans coming out of every side street.
Being a vegan - (sort of) I would generally find that behavior completely reprehensible but it's Chelsea innit lol
But the best(worst) was the FA Cup 4th round in 85 (3-2 Fash the Bash),
seriously Wall took libertys 1000% more times than Chelsea ever did at Loftus road. It was actually a really good match but literally every 5 minutes it would kick off in one part of the ground or the other so it was hard to concentrate on the game - glad I was in the away end. I can’t remember there being trouble in the Ground at Loftus Road when we played Chelsea from 1981 onwards ? I think they came onto pitch when we beat them 3-1 in 1987 (to go top) but that was ages after the game and I don’t know anyone who was still in the ground at that time.

Funny thing was from 1990 onwards Rangers done them off the pitch regularly apparently. Obviously I would never condone those extra curricular sort of antics and am only interested in what happens on the pitch so just forwarding on what I’d heard but it did seem like they were just another team unlike 10 years before.

WE HATE CHELSEA

With massive apologies to NewBee and Switching Code I'm not really bothered about Brentford.
