Gilchrist all day for me. If you’re going to play Warne (a shoo-in) you play Gilchrist, Taylor was a great keeper but I don’t remember him standing up to a world class leg spinner who bowled six different balls an over at 60+mph and turned some of them square and/or bounced like a tennis ball off a length.

The most potent spinners Taylor would have come up against would have been John Embury and Phil Edmonds.

And lest we forget the devastating speed of Derek Pringle.

I think he kept to Derek Underwood in the days of uncovered wickets. very tricky keeping to "Deadly" who used to fizz them down as a spinner.

He would have occasionally maybe. That would mostly have been Alan Knott though.

Sky cricket at 10pm tonight. "Battle of the eras- World XI"
Rob Key and Hussain.

I assume Key did this before his mini stroke.

I wish him well. He's got a good depth

It was on a few weeks ago. It’s a good watch. Key is a good pundit. Looking forward to Sky’s new era now they’ve got rid of the old guard of pundits. Although I will riot if there’s no Michael Holding. He’s this generation’s Richie Benaud.

I thought Botham offered nothing and Gower looked like a younger version of Rowley Birkin!!!
