Government votes to reduce food standards on 19:08 - May 31 by chad | Lisa was wrong, he quite clearly did and it is recorded on the link I provided at the time, it is very clearly discussed how badly wrong those projections were. I assume you did not listen to it but just assumed Lisa was right. |
He didn’t Chad. You kept (and seemingly keep) confusing two separate things. The Guardian and others were misleading in their headlines when they talked of mistakes made in the 2008 crash modelling (under Mervyn King, a prominent brexiteer btw) and the brexit modelling. Please read the actual transcript. I’m not arguing about it any longer though. It’s irrelevant as we are in a crash many, many times worse than anyone could have predicted.

Government votes to reduce food standards on 19:04 - May 31 by chad | No it was foisted on him at conference by Sir Keir in a deviation from his printed speech. Sir Keir is an ardent remainder as are his shadow cabinet. Why do you think McCluskey et al blamed Sir Keir Actually I was just quoting from my previous post as you did not seem to pick those issues up. If you want the state school bit cut out, ask Sir Keir to stop keep repeating it. Even though he travelled 10 miles to attended a partially autonomous school. Which (based on his age) after his second year became fully private, giving him all the advantages of a private education. But presumably still funded by the state. I find it interesting that he stresses the strong socialist nature of his family. Yet they chose to send their child to a semi autonomous Grammar school, soon to become independent. When socialist policy was depriving the majority of ordinary children the opportunity of even a state Grammar school education. I find his repeated stressing of his state school education disingenuous. |
I'll make it easier for you. The leader of the party makes the decisions. Who was the leader of the Labour party at the time? And you *really want to pay attention to Len McClusky, the man who used Unite funds to provide a vexatious defence against libel accusations, which promptly failed. How often does Starmer talk about his upbringing? It's a pretty weak stick to beat him with, given that Johnson and co were elected as "the people's government"...

Government votes to reduce food standards on 18:34 - May 31 by Catullus | Warwick is predictable like that though, it doesn't upset me, it makes me laugh actually. Sanctimonious - making a show of being morally superior to other people. Warwick regularly insults people just for their spelling, regularly insults people's opinions as if his is superior, not that he very often posts an opinion he just insults others. He is sanctimonious enough for both of us. |

Aye - making the effort to get to a polling booth and spoil your ballot paper is really socking it to “the man”.

It s not the chlorine that is the issue it the fact the chicken needs to be washed in it due to the "poor" standards adopted in its production to make it so cheap! As has been mentioned EU and UK produced salads are chlorine rinsed and yes it is in our tap water but US chiken is washed to ensure it bactria free as they way they are farmed there unlike in the EU increas the risk of being contaminated See below.. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-47440562 Yet again Bojo and his mob tell lies......£350M per week for the NHS....then vote against giving NHS workers a rise We wont give in to the US regards chlorinated chicken!!

Government votes to reduce food standards on 22:00 - Jun 5 with 1803 views | Zaxx | It seems like that "we've" accepted the untruth now. Very few people believe anything politicians say perhaps? Most of us want to believe in truth and the democratic vote but the results aren't exactly proving any points at all. Very few of us want anarchy but it'll rise above our principles very soon. Are we able or willing to take that in to consideration, never mind react or do anything about it apart from the odd bleat of reticence?

The results have proven that people will vote for liars and directly against their own best interests. Again, nothing to do with Brexit , the country had a choice and voted in a conservative government that protects big business at the expense of the vast majority of the electorates’ best interests , including health and well being. A labour government would protect food standards , employment rights and protect the NHS. They would have at least tried to insulate the worst off in our society by shielding them from the horrific tax rises they’re going to experience as a result of Covid 19. The conservatives are going to make sure the tax burden is recouped from the lowest earners once again. They are going to bring chlorinated sub standard food over here because some of their friends are going to make an awful lot of money out of it. They’re also going to erode workers rights (not that there are that many left). Ditto the creeping privatization of the health service (something they have an ideological hatred for) and anything else of ours they can sell off and make money on. The people got what they wanted. They’ll just have to accept they made a massive mistake.

Bryn We don’t have to accept it. The EU bans such imports under WTO rules- under what is called the phytosanitary agreement. If a country considers a product of risk to public, Animal or plant health it’s importation can be prohibited. The choice is there with Brexit

That’s fair enough mate. What I was trying to point out was that even with Brexit the Labour Party would not have bent over and lowered our country’s food standards as an act of subservience to the Trump government or any other U.S. government. They would have put public health first and foremost.

I don’t believe any decent government would. This would include people like Ken Clarke or John Major. We don’t currently have decent people left in the Tory government. All pushed out for subservient goons

We certainly are, let us hope recent events have not negated the massive sacrifices and the debts we have burdened our children with for years to come. However the Guardian headline was accurate. I don’t have to read the transcript because I actually listened to the interview with the Chief Economist of the Bank of England and referenced it here. They quite clearly covered the massive failings in the Governor’s immediate post Brexit predictions, as I recall it was likened to a gale warning that turned out to be a slight breeze. I would say given the dire predictions and the authority of the source, that even that breeze, was generated by the affect of Carneys bleak predictions. Perhaps we could revert to the old he hadn’t got to Q in the idiots guide when he made the predictions, so forgot about quantative easing ;) But people will believe what they want to believe, remember you made a joke about, was it 30k tests, sent out to Conservative party members, and 2 of the usual suspects jumped straight on their high horses. Amusing one who Labours on (no pun intended) about how important and scientific it is, to refer to peer review studies, then posts some almighty crap, and goes off on one, taking your joke as gospel. I suppose the fact that you said but seriously after it might have been a tiny clue. But what value fact compared with righteous ;) outrage.
