It wasn't great, but there was room to develop as a 23 year old. He's 34 now.

Was he really only 23 with us?! He must be one of those unfortunate players who perennially look in their 40s, along with Jason Kennedy and Diego Costa.

That talented but troubled McKirdy kid who was mentioned a few times on here as an option for us has signed for Port Vale on a free transfer from Carlisle.

Still a few ex Dale players who I'm surprised haven't linked up with new clubs

Rhys Bennett (linked with Gillingham)
Sam Hart
Andy Lonergan

in particular

Rumours were Wiseman was signing for a club in Gibraltar and Vincenti was retiring

Good news, pleased for him.

When I was your age, I used to enjoy the odd game of tennis. Or was it golf?

Read summat this morning linking Hart with Blackpool, because one of his ex coaches at Liverpool is there or summat.

I would love it if we were in the mix, or at least actively pursuing a left back. It's the one real glaring weakness for me, much as I appreciate Keohane's versatility and willingness to do a job wherever he's asked, I can see him becoming exposed over a full season. Maybe there's high hopes for Dunne to make the step up?

Pretty certain a left back is still on the cards. No one has been given the number 3 shirt and I'm pretty sure BBM might have mentioned left back in one of his interviews. Still quite a bit before the end of the window.

Poll: What are we more excited for?

I wouldn't be surprised if Rhys Bennett arrived back here. He's a good enough player to do a job here.

‘Dale closing in on the new signing’ is the headline in the Ob today, reporting that BBM hopes to bring in another forward. Although reading BBM’s quotes I’ve no idea where the reporter gets that we’re ‘closing in’ on another one.

BBM does go on to say that he’s fully convinced Done will go on to score goals in this league.

He’s probably wishing they hadn’t printed that after Done’s performance today.

It’s good management to be fair, he knows he’s stuck with Done and is trying to get a tune out of him by boosting his confidence. His confidence in front of goal has gone through the floor.

If you watch the cycling it is a bit like one person trying to bring a rider back to the peloton. BBM is trying to build his confidence, while hundreds of fans are working in the opposite direction.
Hopefully Done doesn’t look at the social media sites, He must have a pretty thick skin as he keeps turning up and doing his best. TBH to come back from that late own goal a couple of years back can’t have been easy. As they say god loves a trier, and Matty certainly is that, let’s hope the man upstairs is on his side and resurrects him.
One the subject of new recruits a lot of teams have already done a lot of business, so as the end of window closes in I think we are in a position to bring in better quality than we might expect. Just like when we got Mcshane’s signature.

I think with the right partner up top Done could score goals. I cant see how he can hold the line on his own though he looks lost up there and doesn't have the physical presence.

Apparently Dale Stephens is leaving Brighton for Burnley tomorrow.

And Leon Clarke has left Sheffield United for Shrewsbury on a free transfer.
God knows what his wages are though bearing in my mind what he’s earned at other League One clubs in the past.

35 years old and barely played last season, he probably signed for a let less than you think.

Two of the United youngsters released are still without a club. Dion McGhee and Aidan Barlow. Both reasonably highly thought of and both midfield types.

Has it been mentioned that, at last, Rhys Bennett has found a club - Carlisle, for about 10 weeks.

There must be quite a few players still hoping to be signed.
