With the spread of this illness what are the chances of games getting called postponed and the season not being completed.....

What would the financial knock on effect be to lower league clubs.....

My all time favourite Dale player Mr Lyndon Symmonds

I simply referred to your falsehood, in recasting the team as the Behaviour Change Unit, which gives it an Orwellian tone

And you're welcome

The problem is DA, that people are generally selfish pricks sadly. All they care about is themselves and I am seeing this so much more since this virus has appeared.

My gut instinct is to help others that need help, even if it’s just making sure they are safe, warm and have essentials.

My other half and 3 kids aged 12 14 and 19 have the following mentality.

Eldest, back from uni doing whatever be it pub, Nando’s greggs etc. Middle one not off Xbox other than to eat, youngest off park and round friends houses, Mrs is just bothered about money and if she will get paid, which she will.

I always thought I was quite selfish as a person, but my thoughts are to help others. With that and agreeing with BigDave I am starting to feel like jules in pulp fiction 🤣

Every Team Needs A John Ryan - The Winger Who's a Ringer!!!!!

I guess people will react differently to unprecedented and threatening events. Might be the youngsters can't (or haven't yet) got their heads round it, so are desperately telling themselves to "keep calm and carry on" whilst inwardly panicking. And that might apply to plenty of older people too

I even half-agree with BigDave's post myself, but you made a very good reply in pointing out that there's no preparation for being a national leader in this scenario. I just tend to think he's trying his damnedest to do what he believes is the right thing, whilst having to rely on the scientific advice with which he has no expertise. The stakes couldn't be higher though, way beyond economic prosperity

My daughter's wedding in June is in serious doubt. We all have a personal stake in this, and we'll get through it more readily without politicising everything, and tbf, most politicians on all sides appear to be willing to work together. As you say, we might try to do the same

If all that sounds a bit preachy, it's not meant to be

I never thought I would correct you D-Alien, but you will understand. Surely the wedding is not in doubt, just the time it happens. The same has happened in my life, with a wedding in Auckland, and one in the Cook Islands both taking on a rescheduling scenario. I found the early call helpful, it buys time, and Air NZ have allowed a period of time without penalty for re-booking. Whenever it happens, good luck and enjoyment, it is a special day to walk your daughter down the aisle

Thanks downunder. It's complicated, as yours sounded. My daughter's a doctor in Liverpool, so has the added stress of dealing with that too. But she's being supported, along with her intended

Yes read that too. Can we inject the C's with the virus to get them through it more quickly. Much fewer need help to get through so worth a risk. Hardly anybody left at work from next week anyway. Then we can get them back to work to save the nation.

ps - I am not in Group C

Not the worse suggestion in the world when you take away the hysteria it would cause. I've been out of the UK since 22nd Jan and am due back 1st April. The best thing that could happen to me as an individual is to get the virus before I get back. It means I then won't be able to catch it in the UK, won' be able to give it to anyone and won't need a vaccine when one arrives. My age and health status mean I am unlikely to have any issues with the illness either. The only reason I don't want it now is that I might just bump into a vulnerable person where I am staying. However the principle of what you are saying is correct. When the vaccine is available we will be injecting everyone with a low risk version of the disease anyway

After a couple of days of feeling like absolute crap I got up this morning feeling a whole lot better, another four days of the seven left to isolate, not running out of anything yet in the supplies department so all good there...Thanks to everyone for offering help and support (This place is an amazing collection of human beings) on the political side of things, I am no fan of Boris but please cut the guy some slack in all of this...He is in uncharted territory as would any Prime minister from any political party and you only have to look at him to know it's already taking it's toll. This situation is not and should not be made party political, it's far too serious for that....Everyone take care of yourselves and your loved ones, and at the end of the day that is what matters....UTD.

Good to hear you're on the mend MD, look after yourself and the ones close, agree totally about Boris too he genuinely seems like hes trying his best for all of us, the guy couldn't be under any more pressure, for what its worth I personally think hes doing a superb job in what is incredibly uncertain times for the nation.

As a side note my wife's in(was in) the travel industry and as we all know has took an absolute battering, resulting in today she's in for a redundancy meeting, sad times all round and far from ideal with 2 kids under 6, I'm not the only one so not a vote for sympathy, just a little amazed how in the space of a couple of weeks this great country of ours has fallen to its knees. Take care folks

Talks with trade unions and employers to get it right only concluded in the early hours of this morning, but i'm expecting the worker support package to be announced later today will make the vital difference that keeps everyone's heads above water, you and your missus included

It'd bloody well better do

Sorry to hear that. I was made redundant at the end of feb for the first time in my working life and I know how worrying it can be. Luckily I work in an industry where there always seems to be a job knocking about and I started a new one this week before it got proper mad. Hopefully my new place can take the hit.

Good luck to you and your family.

A tough break for your wife and many people in the travel industry which will get hammered this year. I'm on holiday now in countries ( Southern Africa) that have a low number of cases and yet in the last week to 10 days I have either been the only guest or there have been only 1 or 2 more rooms filled. 1 hotel that I had just managed to get the last room in 2 weeks ago ended up with only me and a couple there as 80% canceled Some of these countries depend on tourism as their number 1 or 2 way of revenue & they are being laid off in vast numbers

Tough times ahead & let's see how long bail out packages & support can be offered for

I was going to start looking for a job after Easter but not that optimistic that it will be worth bothering until this whole thing blows over.

Other things are still happening. Dozens of migrants are still crossing the channel and we seem to have test kits for them even if we haven’t got any for NHS staff. The immigrants will be looked after better than the general population.

I'm also in travel , I'm a self-employed home based travel agent , on top of that I specialise in cruise...I started getting the effects of this a couple of months ago when Asia cruises started being cancelled.

What's happening in the travel industry is horrendous , probably some big announcements to be made by government/ABTA soon, ABTA are making a statement on Monday.

That's what my Mrs Is/was in, she managed a team at head office that recruited then trained franchisees to work from home in the leisure side of travel, with a different side of the business being the corporate travel. Year on year apparently its 90% down from this exact week 12 months ago.

It will pick up without a shadow of a doubt,us Brits are a hardy bunch and when everything else goes to rat shit and lifes tough,we all love to book a holiday as a release.
It's just the terminal damage its currently causing to many business/individuals on the way down, will be the main problem in the future.
