I've already answered that Raymond.

So, Soton 18,000 that season , and Man Utd 42,500. That is 42% of their gate, yet they you lot had your best ever season. For reference, when Pompey had their best season, we had 86% of Man Utds' gate. Incredible!

"football crowds were down generally in that period " It appears that at Man Utd they were holding up, but for some unknown reason they weren't turning up in huge numbers at the Dell, even though it was the clubs best ever season Incredible

As we can see from the historical evidence you've provided Man Uniteds attendances drops from the fifties in the late 70s to low 40's in the mid-late eighties, then back up again, aside from a slight decline at the start of the Fergie era when they were protesting. thanks for proving me right. No pal it's you that's struggling, Have a look at this graph, you can see that attendances across the counry in the mid eighties were the lowest ever post war. So copy and paste all you like, those are the facts. https://european-football-statistics.co.uk/attn/nav/attnengtot.htm I think that is what's know on here as Game set and match

What haven't i answered. I've give you the reason which has nothing to do with Man united. My graph proves my point and you wrong. Attendances across the country were at an all time post war low in the mid 80's. Those are the facts. You should know you were getting 8k that is Incredible

The point is that you had a small ground, the smallest in the top league, you had your best ever season, and yet even though Man Utd were getting more than 42,000 your club couldn't even fill their ground, and in fact was only around 88% full over the season Incredible

Old Trafford has never had a 80000 capacity, record attendance 76962. 1984 Champions Liverpool averaged 71% of capacity, Man Utd 74%, Saints as you say 88% Little Pompey 36%, albeit a 5 figure average, smashing the 8500 average(23%)of 1982

Well, you used to engage me, but you always came off second best. Then you retired, changed your name, and randomly started attacking posters you don't like, calling them freaks, lonely and attention seeking. It appears that you are the one that is angry and needing attention. I just come on here for a bit of a laugh, and to educate myself. You seriously need to chill out, relax, and start being more positive. The new year is always a good time.
