Millwall Away - Not Sold Out 15:33 - Sep 16 with 36156 viewsParkRoyalR

Warburton and this team deserve our support on Saturday.

I appreciate our away form has been dire for the last 5 seasons but other than cost, can't see many excuses for not selling out an away game less than hour away on the tube.

Being kept in for 15 / 20 minutes after final whistle is'nt the greatest inconvenience. COYR's.

Totally agree with the OP last season's turn out was derisory but it was a night game & we were playing dreadfully but given that we are 3 points off top and it's a Saturday there is really no excuse. Many of those not going will no doubt moan about not being able to get a Brentford ticket too! As someone else said the Old Den really was a tricky proposition whereas the only real issue with the New Den is putting up with being kept in and getting pushed about by the Police maybe. Maybe it's being old school but I try never to miss a London Derby if I can help it.

I’m working Saturday, gutted as it’s my nearest ground from where I now live.
Went to the old Den a few times, only dodgy experience was the league cup circa 88 when Fenwick and seamen spent the whole game passing to each other playing for a 0-0, the Millwall fans weren’t happy and gave us a lovely reception on the way out.

Ha ha yes I remember that well; was living down the rd in Elephant & Castle at the time & was on a bus going down the Old Kent Rd full of pissed up Millwall fans all well up for a row. I think we were 2 up from the 1st leg and I was pretty confident we would go through so in the event I bottled it and watched the game from the hill behind the away end with some Millwall as I didn't fancy our chances getting out in one piece! Crazy happy days ..like I say above the Old Den was a completely different ball game altogether.

plenty of reasons not to go, i used to go to every away game following far worse sides than this one but circumstances change and I can't do as many these days, am hoping to do Hull next month though, plus the away game i did recently I had younger supporters giving myself and my son stick for not standing up all game and was told I'm not a real fan for not wanting to sing all game so motivation to go again isn't high to be honest.

Those that want to and can afford to then good luck to them and hope they have a good day and see another win

It was 2-1. Hence playing for the draw as a Millwall goal put them through on away goals.

1,850 now going per the met police twitter - of an allocation of 2,000. Not bad considering the fixture.

I was at this one too. Very intimidating atmosphere not helped by our constant back passing and negative tactics which really wound them up. Also there had been plenty of trouble during and after the first leg. 4 or 5 fights broke out at half time in various parts of the ground and some of theirs were hitting random people who just happened to be on the station platform at White City afterwards, brave lads.

We only had what seemed like a couple of hundred in that old Den corner terrace whereas I was expecting at least 1500 or so that we would normally have at an evening away game in London. Most probably put off by the trouble at the first game. The home fans were hanging around in the ground for ages afterwards before they were eventually moved on. Was very glad to get away from there that evening.

Yes I still remember the Millwall celebrations when they scored to get it back to 2-1 at LR. Don't think I've ever seen the away end go so nuts, they were on the pitch etc.

Obviously our respective league statuses at the time meant we were a big day out for them.

They forgot to add to the poll:

Because its 2019 and we're not all knuckle draggers whose only excitement for the week is to lay into some other morons because the wife lost interest years ago due to them being overweight and full of lager all the time so their tiny flaccid members fail to even get a semi on that wouldn't even touch the sides...

I appreciate that this may be a stupid suggestion but hear me out.

Given the general sentiment of this thread and the unpleasantness of the “Millwall experience” would it be safe to say that the treatmeant is the same for all visiting fans to that ground? If so,
why in 2019 should away fans have to be subjected to this kind of behaviour?

Is there any point in trying to get together with fans of other clubs in trying to lobby the EFL to apply pressure to Millwall FC to root out, what I suspect is a minority of cretins who make the trip for away supporters so unpleasant? If these goons really are chucking coins and indulging in what amounts to illegal behaviour then why aren’t the EFL, Millwall officials and police using their powers to indentify and nick them?

It’s been allowed to go on for too long, I’ve no problem with a passionate crowd making for an intimidating atmosphere, but when becomes to threatening behaviour and supporters fearing for their safety then a line has been crossed.

Or are we just being a bunch of pussies and should man up?

It just gets batted back as being a minority, and that every club has a minority of brain-dead followers, so that's fine. The thing is that their minority of brain-dead is larger than most/all other clubs (49.9% is a minority after all, not that i'm suggesting it's that).

But it's not just the active brain-deads that are the problem. I know at least 4 Millwall supporters. All are reasonable and likeable people. Yet they wear the Millwall reputation with pride almost as a badge of honour. And while this mindset exists amongst the wider fanbase, it gives justification to the minority to carry on.

They genuinely believe their own hype.

I know a number of Wall fans and they wear the 'no one likes us, we don't care' as a badge of honour. Just South London pikeys who all think they're the reincarnation of Harry the dog.

Hope we smash the w*nkers Saturday and put them back in there dingy Bermondsey box.

It’s not helped by the likes of Teddy Sheringham going on the radio and saying “ if you go to Millwall and play by the rules then you will be okay’. What are these special rules and why should there be any in the first place.
Up at Hillsborough a couple of weeks ago we walked from the car park with Wednesday fans, went in the burger shop and chatted to some fans about the game, after the game which they lost there still wasn’t any animosity, as you say they are being made a special case and in this day and age WHY.?

I said roughly the same before last year’s game. Why should normal fans have to play by their rules and not act the same as we do at 90 other grounds in the league?Things like mixing with home fans as we all make our way home after the game, whatever the result?
Things like everyone getting on the same trains and buses after the game has finished?

If fans get locked away in cages in order to get home safely, with coins being thrown at those waiting to get away from the ground,THAT IS THEIR PROBLEM,not ours. And it’s time the authorities dealt with it.If that means closing the stands bit by bit until they do act like normal fans do,then so be it.
It’s time it was dealt with properly and if that means the club losing money because of the actions of THEIR thugs, then maybe it might stop. All the time Millwall claim to be a community club and do good things for their younger fans, while allowing their idiots to run riot,it will never change.

If it's a redeeming factor, Harry(long dead), became a Born Again Christian a few years after appearing in the documentary, lived out the rest of his short life like a choirboy.
