Keith Welch 19:45 - Aug 19 with 11420 views | rochedale | Hi all, just had a message off Mrs KW via instagram, she has just seen my post on there from a few months back regarding his battle with cancer which shows the picture of me and him which is my avatar on here. She has just informed me that they are about to start battle no 3. She has mentioned that they, as a family, have very fond memories of their time at Rochdale, and to quote 'Rochdale were the best years of our footballing years. Never felt the same about any other club.' I have directed Mrs KW (Deborah) to this message board, so if anyone feels inclined to offer their support, maybe this thread could be a good start... Good luck Keith!!

I have fond memories of being a 13yr old kid travelling down on the train with all the Dale fans to Crystal Palace and seeing Keith put in a world class performance that deserved more than the 1-0 loss. My other vivid memories of him are his ultra cool porno tash that he had at the time and I'm sure he had a really deep booming voice that ensured his defenders were in no doubt where they had to be or who to mark. I'm sad to hear your unwell Keith but being the hero that you are (you were mine as a kid on the Sandy Lane terrace) then I'm sure you'll fight this all the way. I hope we see you back at the club sometime soon. You'd be welcomed back with open arms.

I could've written exactly that, pretty sure I was 13 too! You forgot to mention the mullet he had, in his early days! You could always hear him very clearly in the sandy, barking 'keepers', 'away' and 'out'. Keith and his wife are currently on holiday and when they return the will be seeing surgeons with regards his 3rd battle. They have really been through it recently and Keith has already had part of his bowel and 40% of his liver removed. They are aware of this thread and are touched by the comments and grateful of the support.
