The Rochdale Division: The Managers' Stories 16:52 - Aug 28 with 19975 viewsfitzochris

Rochdale AFC is currently riding on the crest of a wave as far as the club’s modest history goes.

The club had previously occupied the fourth tier of English football for so long that the division became unofficially named after it.

Incumbent manager Keith Hill, unarguably the best to ever hold the post, has taken an unfashionable, penurious club and made it known for flowing football and over achievement. The club accomplished, in 2015, its highest ever league finish − eighth in League One. Halcyon days indeed.

But what about those other Rochdale bosses? Those who, as the game began to radically remodel itself in the mid ’90s, sought to rid the club of its tiresome fourth-tier anchor? Or those who, more recently, tried to keep the club at the next level?

The Rochdale Division contains the accounts of the managers who, at differing points over the past twenty years, looked to make their own mark at the club, each under a divergent set of circumstances. Here, they provide a unique insight into the struggles and joys of managing a traditionally unfashionable club in the modern football age.

It features interviews with Graham Barrow, Paul Simpson, Steve Parkin, Steve Eyre and John Coleman, as well as the thoughts of current chairman Chris Dunphy, club-record signing Paul Connor and former captain Gareth Griffiths.

Author Chris Fitzgerald was born in Manchester and raised in Rochdale. A fully trained and qualified journalist, he now lives in Glasgow where he has been nominated for such accolades as Sports News Writer of the Year at the Scottish Press Awards.

Hmmm. It shouldn't say that.

It's available to all markets. Thanks for purchasing.

EDIT: Just checked. You're actually one of five US sales. I haven't sold any books in any other overseas market so far, so have no way of checking if it's working in other ex-pat locales such as Australia and New Zealand.

I don't own a Kindle but would like to have a read. Is there a way of reading this on another device? Is the format compatible with Apple's iBooks app? Never really bought an "e-book" tbf.

Download the app from Amazon on to your laptop and take it from there.

I purchased it in Auckland NZ. Got the Kindle app on my mac...no probs. Great read :). Also I have been impressed with daleplayer this year....at least 10 mins of highlights per game. Im looking forward to the time I can see full games. I still have Dale 2-0 Leeds on my sky planner!!!!

Living away certainly doesn't decrease your interest in all things dale. I have looked at this site and the official site everyday for the last 6 years living in Auckland!!!
