I'll give it three posts before someone says "Political Correctness GONE MAD!!"

Ah, i just did.

1975 called, the Black and White Minstrels would like their gimmick back.

I doubt that this bloke is the thundering racist that some will probably portray him as but he's clearly a bit thick to think that this is in any way ok. But he is a rugby player so being thick is probably in the job description.

Have you read the article in the paper, Clase? Have you clocked the contributors? Those weasels just sit on the edge of their seats praying for something like this to crop up so they can leap to print. It's how they make their living I suppose. They have to bang the drum to justify the pay docket.

What are we talking about here? It was Llanelli's Christmas do. Fancy dress. Liam Williams goes as Wilfred Bony, who, no doubt, would find it highly amusing if not a little flattering. That just goes to underscore how much of a cult hero he's become in these parts. Who else is in the photo dressed up with Liam Williams? Michael Tagicakibau. Fijian. Black as pitch and hard as nails.

This isn't "political correctness GONE MAD", Clase it's red scum trying to create a loud bang, not unlike their friends attempted in Portadown yesterday. Vermin!

An idea isn't responsible for those who believe in it.

So a world class footballer comes to our club, scores goals in the highest league possible , bonds with the fans, becomes a club hero - and this guy thinks that having black skin is something to laugh at and poke fun at. I have simply no idea why it would be funny ? Its embarrassing for the rugby player, and totally embarrassing for his employers.

Who's said he was poking fun at him? Not even the article claims that. He was dressed up as him. That's apparently what they find a hanging offence.

I'm waiting for a member of ALF to weigh in claiming that the bloke dressed as a donkey shouldn't ought to have worn the big ears. "This is almost 2015. He should realise how offensive big, fluffy grey ears are in this day and age. Somebody ought to tell him that Queen Victoria is dead."

I wouldn't have thought it was poking fun at all. He was in fancy dress as Bony, not easy to do with white skin.

I know the majority seem to think this is unacceptable, but I don't see a problem with it at all. If Williams went as a slave, blacked up with a white master, now that IS offensive. But to go as an international footballer who he knows shouldn't be.

Just my views, and yes possibly I am from a time before PC went mad (just for you Clasie ;-) ).

Pretty much. I could lend you a slew of books to plot the descent if you'd like. Although given your own youthful dalliances I'm guessing you already know a bit about Cathal Goulding, the 32 County Socialist Republic Movement and the CPGB's role in the the squalor.

Not all of them were reds. They've always had a leavening of sociopaths, gangsters, racketeers, drug dealers, rapists and child molesters to swell the ranks but the one's worth shooting have always been reds. They provided the faux-philosophical umbrella beneath which all manner of creatures crawled and slithered. They were always the ones to shoot. They still are.

Apart from the polaristic (is that a proper word even!) opinions of our political welfare officers Exile and Lonhengrin can we just concentrate on Liam Williams! Is Liam a rabid Swans fanatic? If so given the opportunity to be his current hero Wilf wouldn't it be tempting to "black up" I cannot say how respectful Liams behaviour was when in garb or what he said I wasn't there. Imagine yourself as a ten year old Swans wouldn't you be tempted and perhaps Liam had just watched The Book thief and saw Rudy black up as his hero Jesse Owens, one of the greatest (black)men to have lived sticking it to the Nazis in front of the main man, getting a bit off course here for God's sake there are much much worse things happening in the world today. Enjoy Facebook as much as the next man, mainly to keep in touch with old shipmates but why do people in the public's eye continue to shoot themselves in the foot is this all a storm in a coffee mug!!

Sorry guys but not been aware of the term "blacking up" so forgive me if i am missing a key bit of info here.

But why is it offensive? i guess the question may be...

If Bony went to a xmas party as Liam Williams and made himself white, would he be asked to apologise?

If i was going to a fancy dress as Paul Scholes i would realise the colour of my hair was not correct so would wear a ginger wig. If i was going as Frank Bruno (and didn't want to look crap) i would realise the colour of my skin wasn't right darken my skin and wear boxing gloves.

If i was going as Dale Winton, again id realise my skin colour wasnt correct and shove a load of fake tan on.
