What benefits will it have for England? I get the impression that those in charge up there want their cake and eat it.

Trouble is we're tripping over your grandparents up here, every 2nd person I meet is an English OAP, while any Scots that go to England are generally young and working age. Let's have a think as to which age group will be net contributors to the economy they Iive in.
I'm pro union but too many of you on here that claim to be as well are so obviously only pro if it's all to England's benefit, can't work like that.

Blob, why have you moved to a smaller country of the Union?
People move around the countries but those who live in the powerhouse of the economy can't complain when funds are shifted around when the country is primed for success in the South East. I've said it before but many on here have worked hard in the London area then sold up and retired/relocated elsewhere, we see them up here all the time and the retirees don't bring much to our economy. I can't see how that can be seen as all the benefits coming north

One of the big pluses for me if the vote is yes is Scotland will have a non nuclear armed force basically a small defence force Like Norway or Denmark That will not follow along like a puppy after the US in their world domination plan. See Iraq Afghanistan Iran Syria etc etc There will no more pointless deaths of Scottish soldiers

If youre so desperate to have nuclear subs can I suggest Portsmouth or Plymouth or even Somerset
Cameron doesnt give a toss about those living north of Watford any way

The point is not if we want them, but the fact that WE will have to pay for it and then be expected to use it to defend you lot; simples really.
Do you have ANY idea what it would cost to convert Plymouth or Pompey? Let's just say a little more than Scotchland makes selling Irn Bru, Buckfast wine and Mars Bars...

Can we go out yet?

Given how few people on this thread seem to actually like Scottish people, I'd have thought it would make everybody happy that they were possibly and at long last getting their independence. There's a contradiction somewhere.

The economics are complex, particularly around the pound/single currency and Bank of England oversight within the Banking sector. I've yet to read anything from Salmond that convinces me they have a grip on this.

Personally I have nothing against the Scots but some of the pro union angles suggests they want to have their cake and eat it....

All Englishmen and women should now be allowed to vote on if we wish Scotland to be affiliated ( if that's the right word) with England.

If the answer is no, then back you go guys and girls north of the border and fend for yourselves.
No money or support from down south, border controls, proper rules for immigration here, no armed forces. Simply put, you are on your own.

Sick and tired of the "Scottish vote" bull poo, let's have a vote on whether we actually want, let alone need them!

My in laws are jocks, and a bigger bunch of anti English biggots you will never meet in your life.

But now they finally have the the chance to put their money where their mouth is. But even they are against independence, because they know they are f&@?ked on their own.

So when, and not if, they vote to stay part of the union, I hope they all finally shut the f...k up and stop moaning constantly, and Alec Salmon slides back under the rock the odious little man crawled out of.

OK, so we don't like the Scots. But then we don't like bloody northerners either. So let's have a country of London. Oh wait, London is full of darkies, and we certainly don't like them. In fact we don't really like anybody. There is only one solution: let each man be a country.

You see Karl I have this severely disabled brother who needs constant attention - he was not supposed to live this long - and the medical services here are actually superior to the overpopulated borough of Bromley wot we lived in.We wanted to give the poor little sod a better quality of life so we moved here.
When we came we had a visit from the Ceredigion surveyor who practically wept, yes wept that we were bringing money into the county. The Welsh don't want these old farmsteads and houses,he blubbed, they want hot and cold running water and inside toilets and preferably in Spain.Gawd bless you bach,do you have a box of tissues handy?
Yes,we bring MONEY into the local economy- we don't suck it out like some people do,probably like the majority of Useless Eater interlopers in Scotland.
I'm 95% Scots anyway, but would I want to freeze my bollocks off looking after someone up there?

Fair point, but i think unless you have spent any time up there, you cant appreciate the true hatred some of them up there have for us, but even these people are considering voting to stay part of the union.

Very funny
Before i met and married my wife i had nothing against the scots (prob a bit like most English) but after living up there for a while the constant drip drip drip of anti English jibes and digs slowly made me change my mind.
Unless you have experience of this dont judge me,

Why do you think the vote will be for independence, I think it's gonna be a close call.

Also there is more to it, than whether you like someone or not !!

Most polls are approx 40% pro and 60% against.

Thanks for your answer Blob and I'm not going to ask about your personal circumstances as that wasn't what I intended, though the way I put the question looked like it.
