Cardioff player, sorry Cardiff LOAN player, Jlloyd Samuel says the pressure is all on Norwich for the final two games. Norwich hasn't bet its shirt on going up, so the pressure is on the other side of the Bridge.
It is fairly common knowledge that Cardiff has thrown everything into the pot for promotion. On the verge of administration, they commissioned a new stadium and brought in expensive loan players, including former Canary, Craig Bellamy, to assist in that race to the finish line.
Without the benefit of the economical status of the club, there is no saying whether or not the bid for Premiership status is being bankrolled by anonymous backers from Malaysia, the home, allegedly, of suspect gambling in sports.
Should that be the case, Cardiff face having the rug pulled from beneath them if they fail to go up, as the various syndicates, if they exist, withdraw their backing for more reliable odds.
With more than £6m being spent on loan players, the Welsh side are reliant on promotion to try to recoup that cost.
The current loan players include Jason Brown (Blackburn) and Stephen Bywater (Derby) - goalkeepers. Defenders, Jlloyd Samuel (Bolton).Midfielders = Jason Koumas (Wigan); Seyi Olofinjana (Hull); Jay Emanuel-Thomas (Arsenal). Plus striker, Craig Bellamy from Man City. Andy Keogh, from Wolves, spent the first half of the season on the Welsh side of the Severn Bridge before crossing to Bristol City in January.
The Cardiff City Stadium cost £42m to build. Owned, in a roundabout fashion, by Cardiff City FC; another burden on the budget, servicing loans, possibly, added to the daily running costs. As for salaries, guesses would suggest that the contracted players would probably hold out for a parity of terms with the "stars" on Premier League wages.
Contrast that situation with that of the Carrow Road outfit. Previous history probably meant that a stipulation was laid down to Paul Lambert to avoid using loan players if at all possible. A feat he has managed to succeed in, relying on loans to fill in for injuries, or loans with a view to purchase and, finally, loans to help the final push to promotion.
Without being unkind to the club, it is likely that our whole squad probably doesn't match the expense of Cardiff's lay out for loan players this season.
Besides, Cardiff City supporters, players and coaching staff alike, every single one of them seems to have forgotten that Norwich City's aim for this season was to secure Championship survival. That being done, the rest of it is just party time of the most thrilling of proportions.
Admittedly, as the finish line hoves into view, the realisation of the enormity of the success the players have achieved is starting to hit home. Many of Norwich City players were considered not good enough above League One status. How those players just love going onto the park and sticking a proverbial finger up to their critics and inviting the to swivel.
Pressure on Norwich? If there is, we just can't get enough, do-do-do-do-to-do do-do, just can't seem to get enough of it.
