Still basking in today's win and noticed there was an FA Cup semi final going on today. Growing up in the 80s and early 90s, semi final day was THE best day of the season. Seeing neutral stadiums like Old Trafford, Villa Park, Hillsborough, Maine Road, Highbury, full of opposing fans, packed terraces, unbelievable drama and atmosphere. Who could forget one of the most dramatic days in English football when Palace beat Liverpool 4-3 and then later in the day Oldham drew 3-3 with Man Utd. Today? I didn't even know it was on. Sad that such a meaningful day in English football has been reduced to not even being aware. Obviously switching to Wembley for the semis is a major factor (terrible for the FA Cup) and the money in modern football. | |
