Visited mum's old house, which we're selling, to find post. TV licencing going to visit, see because they are certain TV is being watched with no licence.
I'm just laughing my balls off...
1) Property is derelict as mum had to go into sheltered accomodation.
2) Nobody lives in the property, I've removed basically everything from there.
How did they know to target the house? The letter came very soon after I switched mum's free TV licence from that address to her new address online.
No doubt they'll claim their "detector vans" find some evidence...

It's standard to send these letters to any unlicensed house bluey. I didn't have a license for about 5 years until last year and the letters get more and more threatening and then the cycle starts again. The inspector visits were interesting too. 
Was it addressed to her or 'The Legal Occupier' by the way? |  |

Yep, but that's exactly how it works! Bin it pal, standard unlicensed threatogram.
In the unlikely event you do get a visit whilst you're there, do not enter into any conversation with them explaining anything as they just want their commission. They're real lowlives. Tell them to 'go away' in as strong terms as you like and shut the door on them. [Post edited 13 May 2019 21:13]

Genuine question - do I need a TV licence for the following?
I spend some of the working week living out of a second property. I don’t have Sky or cable installed and I don’t have any form of internet connection to the property. I do however have a TV.
Next door has BT broadband and their network is strong enough for me to utilise some of their bandwidth via the roaming allowance; I have BT broadband at home and also Sky which means that I can watch Sky Go on TV via laptop and HDMI cable using next doors megabytes. I’m good to go for as long as Boyo has his router switched on.
I guess I need a licence for this. |  |

If you watch live TV (any channels, not just the BBC) then you need a licence. If you use BBC iPlayer you'll also need a licence. Any other catch up service you're okay, as are streaming services like Netflix.
Edit: Sorry, misread the second property bit. From that link above, f*ck knows!
Edit 2: Looks like you would be covered if you watched TV on your laptop as long as your laptop is running off its internal battery. If, however, the laptop is plugged in when you're watching TV you need a licence. Who decides this shite?! [Post edited 13 May 2019 21:31]
