Schalke Trying To Hijack Clasie Transfer Tuesday, 14th Jul 2015 13:40 Saints need to move fast in sorting out the transfer of Jordy Clasie from Feyenoord with German club Schalke waiting to swoop.
The Dutch media has been reporting the transfer of Jordy Clasie from Feyenoord to Southampton as a done deal, but Saints should not get complacent and see it as 100% as there are others trying to hijack the deal and Schalke 04 of Germany are one of them.
From a Saints perspective this should mean that they Agree a fee with Feyenoord with as little hassle as possible, now is not the time to try and get him on the cheap, now is the time to put our money on the table at somewhere near the fee that Feyenoord want and keep the haggling down to a minimum.
This was not the case back in January when it was rumoured that Saints had made a bid for the player, but it was far from acceptable to the Dutch club.
Having lost Morgan Schneiderlin we want what is clearly our number one target to replace him signed sealed and delivered ASAP .

hence my thread about Les Reed shouting his mouth. We've hardly a word from Feyenoord, but our club has deemed it necessary to tell the whole world who we are going for, and how much we are going to pay before signing the player... Transfers should remain secret, leave it to us posters to speculate, not directors of our club

Remember that Les also told us that Clyne and Toby would stay!!

While I agreed that "now is the time to put our money on the table" - Surely the time was before we sold Morgan. We are now a club in a desperate situation having shown yourselves to be week selling as well as buying. We have missed out on Toby, Idrissa Gueye and Coabye, I have gone from not being fussed about Clasie to him being the best option we have. Having said that would Swansea take £15m for Cork? (Nick if there is anyway of removing the constant reminder of Cork (right) then please make it so!)

I really do question Les Reed's skill of dealing with transfers and negotiations. Patred is right. If we seriously want this guy and we seriously think he is a good replacement for Schneiderlin we should stop messing around.

Word is that Clasie and Van Dijk would both be good for us and as they were supposed to be on their way here I was about to do a 'u turn' and invite Les out for a pint. I might just hang on to my dosh and carry on 'sweating' for a while.

Problem with getting lots of money for our players is that other teams demand more cash when we want to buy. Given our recent history I can see why we want to squeeze every pound, but not if it means missing out on top players

Maybe now is a good time to do one of those Les/Ralph holding comments to pass judgement on the first day of the season when all wheeling and dealing is done. That worked last season.

Blogs 31 bloggersKnees-up Mother Brown #19 by wessex_exile February, and the U’s enter the most pivotal month of the season. Six games in just four weeks, with four of them against sides also in the bottom six. By March we should be either well clear of danger, or even deeper in the sh*t. With Danny Cowley’s U’s still unbeaten, and looking stronger game on game, I’m sure it’ll be the former, but first we have to do our bit to consign Steve ‘Sour Grapes’ Cotterill’s FGR back to non-league. After our shambolic 5-0 defeat at New Lawn, nothing would give me greater pleasure, even if it meant losing one of my closest awaydays in the process. What’s the excuse going to be today Steve – shocking pitch, faking head injuries, Mexican banditry or some other bit of sour-grapery bullsh*t? Newport County Polls |
