How is it 'very very naive' on our part if our players get assaulted and the referee blanks it? What would you suggest we do differently? Get Cook to take him out with a low swing (which, to be fair, he deserved)?

Steve Cook on tonight's loss

If we'd had any kind of threat up top/going forward, he might have got away with a single mistake. Ridiculous to pile onto Cook in the circs.

I don't think we did quite enough to win, but at the same time we didn't really/really didn't deserve to lose. Our set pieces really need to improve, though - that's clear - and is an obvious weakness in the coaching Marti needs to address.

Why can't it be both-and rather than either-or? He could tell the dressing room (and give them a dressing-down) and tell us some truth while he's at it.

Surprised that Marti didn't pick up on our very poor set-pieces in his post-match interview. Hopefully, he's not compounded the problem by not noticing!

So off the scale of contrarianism you should be certified!

He wasn't at his best tonight, but still had just about our best effort on goal, and always showed for the ball and tried to make the play. Half a dozen were off it tonight, and you pick on our best player for years!

Agree with that. Frey is over-hyped, Alfie is willing but often unable, and Kolli is still to fully flower. Marti hopefully recognises the shortfall.

Min-Hyeok for Smyth, who's not been great tonight.

Trouble is, we all all Yang and no Yin!

You're a ray of sunshine, aren't you! Do you enjoy watching football?

I thought it a half-decent first half by both sides, though we struggled to create real opportunities, and for me Frey is again struggling to get into the game. Nardi's double save was great to see, and Koki has stood out for us with his trickery and one or two great bits of chasing back, while Ili isn't quite on it and Smyth's been quiet. Colback definitely gives us a bit more bite and grit, as well as knitting things together better than Varane for me. Don't understand the hate for Paal by some, who I think has done pretty well. Their corners scare me, but otherwise how good is it to see us go to a team above us in the table and really compete?

As the cliche goes, the first goal is likely to be crucial and may well win it - if there's to be a winner.

What a lot of codswallop! Who cares what she 'perceives'? She soiled a taxi, abused a driver, broke a window, and racially insulted a policeman! And you're making special pleading! Give me a f*cking break!

Forbes is obviously a head case, and a professional liar.

If the boot had been on the other foot and the officer had called her 'stupid, black, and a lesbian', say, there'd have been hell to pay.

What a country!

John Eustace - Blackburn to Derby
at 15:43 10 Feb 2025

Am I missing something? At Brum, he kept them up by a few points and then they sacked him at the start of the following season for unclear/undisclosed reasons connecting to the footballing culture there. It's not exactly tree-tearing-up territory, is it?

Blackburn are doing OK this season, but I'd still back us to finish above them. It's about where teams finish, not where they are in February.

For me, Eustace resembles a resonable journeyman coach who's still finding his way in the game. WIth us, he was part of the problem with the team's decline under Warburton, and I didn't find him particularly inspiring or charismatic.
