Thread | Corners, why do teams bring all 10 players back for a corner?

Can some who's maybe managed a team, please tell me why us, and many other teams including England against rubbish teams like Slovenia do this?
Take last Saturday against Ipswich, from the corner they scored from, we had 9! in the 6 yard and AA watching just outside , what's the point in bringing midgets back anyway?
If you left 2 up on the halfway line surely they'd have to leave 2/3 back, which would mean they'd only have 6/7 in the penalty area causing chaos.
Any ideas? |

Players fitness levels of the 70's and 80's are a million miles away from what they are now, players then spent more time in pubs and betting shops than training.
If the full backs went up, they wouldn't be able to get back.
Defenders defended then never had the skill to pass along the back or accept the ball under pressure, that wasn't their job, that's why they generally booted it long most of the time.
Tbf, the pitches were terrible back then, (Derby played on sand and mud) many didn't have any grass come January so they wouldn't have been suited to the passing game.
For the youngsters who've never seen the 1970 Fa Cup final take a look at this, the game now would have been abandoned due to so many players being sent off.

Nobby, are we really expected to believe the ruse that you've been posting your dribble (and replying) from the stadium during the game for the third home game running?

6, The Wi Fi was p1ss poor on Saturday, as Nobby only posted once from the stadium compared to 10 times during the Forest game. 
Hopefully the club can turn it off completely Saturday, as if you cant go for 90 minutes p1ssing about on your phone, then don't bother going, let someone else go who will support the team for 90 minutes. |

Listen 1teem, you ain't gonna believe this, but it's allegedly true, we seem to have a new breed of fan (not supporter) that posts on a football forum about 10 times during the match itself from the stadium.
I know it's hard to comprehend but what kind of Nobby would even think of doing that???

He cut down from10 posts at the Forest game to 4 yesterday at the stadium, must have watched a bit of the game
But, He's Only just noticed JS mistakes 30 hours after the game so must have missed the first 2 Man U goals yesterday, watch the game Nobby and stop typing dribble on you're phone |

Try answering the question, it's not a difficult one.
What's snide about it, if we honestly have fans posting on football forums whilst watching the game and one wanting Pompey to win matches then God help us, I would think 99.9% of our supporters would despair of such ridiculous behaviour. |

Just think it's a bit weird someone would pay good money to go to a football match and be typing away utter dribble on a football forum on their phone whilst the game is going on, don't you?
Tbh, it's nearly as ridiculous as you being the only Saints fan that's ever lived wanting Pompey to win games of football. that's a bit weird as well. |

So lets get this straight, last weekend you went to SMS and posted about 10 times from the stadium.
This weekend you have a weekend in Italy and spend most of the day posting on the forum, weren't there any bars or strip clubs open?
Where yous posting for the Utd game, Timbuktu?
It's just that some of the boys think you're a bit of story teller

Good post fella, you talk a lot of sense.
Remember last season when we got beat 4 on the spin, the usual Nobby's were creaming their pants wanting him out, some thought we'd get relegated, look what happened.
He can't legislate for THB Fcking around, or AA missing a dolly can he? |

Dirk, he said in the Echo he made mistakes with the team selection and was probably to loyal to some, we said at the ground how's he chosen the same 10?
But he hooked two at HT, ( Armstrong's miss just before HT was horrendous, they didn't show on Motd) so I think he knows. Aribo like you say, and you can add Stephens are nowhere near the level, THB has been pants and I thought Diaz would be showing a bit more tbh.
